Google Tricks to Amaze Your Friends
Paint Roller –In Google Suite, the paint roller feature allows a user to apply text appearance (font, size, color) from one part of the screen or document to whatever portion of the document is selected. This will ensure that all formatting for a document is the same! To use the paint roller, simply highlight the portion of the document that you want everything to match to, and click the paint roller at the top of the screen (next to the re-do button). Then highlight the portion of the document you want to change, and voila! The format of the highlighted section will change to match!
Force a Copy – This is a trick that allows a user to share a Google Doc/Slides Presentation/Sheet and force users who access the shared document to make a copy of the document, rather than accessing the original. To do this you simply need to find the shareable link on your doc, slide or sheet (go to “share” and click “get shareable link” in the top right corner) and change the word on the end of the link from “edit” to “copy”. Once this revised link is shared, users who access the link will then be prompted to make a copy of the file. Once the user clicks “make a copy”, Google Drive will make a copy of the file and add it to the user’s drive. What a convenient way to share documents with your students without fear of changing the original!
