Cascadia Tech News
January 2026
From Our Director
As we head towards the second half of the school year, I want to take a moment to thank everyone who has helped the first semester be a great one. From staff, students, parents, and community partners, I appreciate you all.
I’m looking forward to the months ahead to watch our students continue to learn technical and professionalism skills in their program areas. Our students can accomplish anything they put their minds to.
Cascadia Tech staff are all working hard to ensure our students are college and career-ready, with industry certifications in hand, by June. It is our mission to encourage and support student success in each program. Enjoy this edition of our newsletter!
We are doing great things!

Where Are They Now
We’re especially proud to note that Cadet April Carvel is a former Criminal Justice student, and this moment is a powerful example of the leadership, readiness, and heart she brings to her path in law enforcement. Read the post from Clark County Sheriff's, Washington Facebook page:
We often hear about our front-line deputies who respond in urgent moments and make a difference — and we’re proud of them every day. But today, we want to highlight someone you may not always see in the spotlight: a Cadet who stepped up during an emergency and helped save a life.
Earlier this month, Cadet April Carvel was working near the front window of the Sheriff’s Office when a woman ran into the lobby yelling for Narcan. Her son had overdosed and was unresponsive in a vehicle parked outside near the Clark County Justice Center.
Deputies immediately ran outside to assist the man — but April also realized she had Narcan in her purse, which she carries as a life-saving precaution. Without hesitation, she provided it to the distraught mother through the lobby window so she could administer it right away.
Deputies and detectives quickly arrived on scene, removed the man from the vehicle, began CPR, administered additional Narcan, and attached an AED. Clark County Jail, WA Officers and a Nurse responded to assist, helping support efforts until medics arrived.
The man regained consciousness and was transported to the hospital for further treatment — the result of a coordinated response by multiple members of our team, each stepping up when every second mattered.
April has been a Cadet since November and hopes to become a deputy one day, with aspirations of working K-9 and narcotics. We’re proud of Cadet Carvel — and proud of everyone who helped in this response.
