The "Tea" With Dr. T
The “Tea” with Dr. T is my way of keeping LVES families, community members, and external partners connected and “in the know” about all things Luther Vaughan! Each edition will share important updates, celebrations, upcoming events, and helpful information as we continue building a strong school community together.

Dr. T's Thoughts
Parent-Teacher Conferences Thank You
First, I want to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to every parent, grandparent, guardian, and family member who took the time to participate in Parent-Teacher Conferences this past week!
Your presence means more than you may realize. By showing up, asking questions, and staying informed about your scholar's progress, you are modeling something incredibly powerful for your child: Their education matters, their success matters, and they have people in their corner who are invested in their future. For that, I am truly grateful!
But now, I want to challenge us all with one important question: What are we going to DO with the information we received?
For some of our Lions, the news was exactly what we hoped to hear! They are learning, growing, and performing at the level we know they are capable of. That is worth celebrating! But our work doesn't stop there. How do we maintain that momentum? How do we continue challenging them, pushing their thinking, and helping them reach even greater heights throughout the remainder of the school year?
For other Lions, the conversations may have been a little more difficult. Perhaps the grades weren't where we wanted them to be, or there were some areas of concern that needed our attention. If that was your experience, I want you to hear this from me: Where your child is today does not have to determine where they finish! There is still time to grow, improve, and turn things around. But that growth will require us to work together, follow through, and be intentional about the support we provide.
Whether your scholar is excelling or needs a little extra help, the message is the same: We cannot afford to become comfortable with where they are. We must remain committed to where they are going!
I want to leave you with a thought that I hope stays with us all: "The value of knowing where a child stands is not simply in the information we receive, but in what we choose to do next to help that child succeed."
Parents, conferences are not the finish line. They were a checkpoint. Now comes the most important part: taking what we learned and turning it into action. That may mean celebrating and reinforcing positive habits, checking grades more frequently, establishing a consistent homework routine, reading together each night, or staying in closer communication with your child's teacher.
Whatever that next step looks like for your family, I simply ask that we keep showing up, keep encouraging, and keep believing in what our Lions can accomplish.
Thank you again for your partnership, your trust, and most importantly, the love you continue to pour into your children. We are grateful to be on this journey with you.
Every student. Every day. Start with the crown!

💙💛 Your Voice Matters! Help Us Make LVES Better!
As part of our school's Comprehensive Needs Assessment (CNA), we want to hear directly from YOU! Throughout the building, you will see opportunities to respond to one important question:
"What additional resources, programs, or opportunities would help your family support your child's learning?"
We encourage you to think about this question before arriving and take a moment during the evening to share your thoughts. No suggestion is too big or too small! Your feedback will help us identify barriers, close gaps, strengthen family partnerships, and create better opportunities for every Lion to succeed.
