Message from the Principal
JAJHS Families and Friends,
It’s been a great few weeks at JAJHS! Our recent Spirit Week brought out incredible energy and Pioneer pride! We capped it off with a fun fall pep rally celebrating our fall athletes, musicians, and activity groups. It was a great reminder of how strong our school community is when we come together to cheer one another on.
Looking ahead, we need your continued support in our annual Battle of the Cans. See below for additional details! Additionally, please see below for important information about upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences. Finally, we’re preparing for one of our favorite traditions - the 5th Annual AEP Ohio Pumpkin Drop! Families interested in donating pumpkins can find the sign-up link below.
Thank you for continuing to make JAJHS such a great place to learn and grow! Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Ryan Malany
Principal

Annual JAJHS Pumpkin Drop - Pumpkins Still Needed!
We plan to hold our annual Advisory Pumpkin Decorating and Pumpkin Drop with AEP Ohio at the end of October!
During Advisory, students will be collaborating together to design and decorate a pumpkin to represent their advisory. Pumpkins will be judged in a number of categories. The culminating event will include AEP Ohio dropping the pumpkins from their largest bucket truck in Central Ohio!
We would appreciate your help through the donation of pumpkins for our advisory groups to decorate. We need 26 pumpkins and they should be dropped off at the JH no later than Thursday, October 16. If your family is able to help, please sign up here.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Parents and Guardians,
The Junior High will be holding in-person conferences on Monday, November 3rd and Thursday, November 6th. There will be a combination of teacher-requested and parent-requested conferences. If your child's teachers are interested in meeting as a team to discuss your child's progress, you will receive an email. If you do not receive a request to set up a team meeting, you are still able to schedule a meeting with your student’s teacher(s). These scheduled conferences will be ten minutes long and with individual teachers. This means that if you would like to meet with each of your students’ teachers, you must schedule multiple individual conferences. Please look for more information about this the week of October 18th.
Veterans Day - JAJHS Wall of Honor
Each year, the Junior High strives to recognize the service of JAJHS family members by creating a “Wall of Honor” as a part of our Veterans’ Day activities. If a member of your family is a veteran or in active service and you would like them to be recognized on this day, please complete this Google Form. If you would like to submit a photo of your family member(s) please email it to Megan Brar at brarme@japioneers.org.
This year, we are excited to invite the service men and women of our JAJHS family to be recognized at the JAJHS Veterans Day Assembly taking place on Tuesday, November 11, at 12:15pm. Please indicate on the above Google Form if your service member would like to attend. We are excited and honored to pay our respects to those who serve or have served our country!
Athletic Department Updates
We are wrapping up a very successful fall season and are excited to turn our attention to the upcoming winter sports season! Please see the links below for information on girls and boys basketball. Wrestling information will also be handed out to students in the coming weeks and sent home as well. Please contact one of the coaches or Mr. Moyer if you have any questions.
Battle of the Cans!
Even though it's the last day, you can still donate at the game!
Battle of the Cans is right around the corner! Last year we beat London by a landslide, and I’m hopeful we can do it again this year. The food drive will run October 6th–October 10th. Attached is the flyer.

8th Grade DC Trip Registration Reminder
As a reminder, the 8th grade Washington DC Trip registration deadline is October 24th. All information, including the registration codes, can be found on our website. Students are placed on the the trip in a first-come-first-serve order by their Prodigy registration and deposit payment in the event of reaching a waitlist capacity.
As a revised date, we anticipate scholarship applications going home Thursday, October 16th. If your family, business, or organization are able to provide financial support for others, please contact Mr. Malany at school.
Student Council
Congratulations to our new student council representatives! Please note that there is an afterschool meeting on Wednesday, October 29th from 2:30-3:45 PM. We will use this time to have a snack, brainstorm for the year, and engage in team building activities. If you cannot attend, please see Mrs. Garner to make sure you receive the information. Most of our other meetings will be during the school day with optional opportunities through the year.

Music Department Fundraiser!
JAM Fest Fundraiser
For our annual Jonathan Alder Music Festival, we are specifically raising money for students who are traveling on the Orlando trip this year!
"You may ask... HOW CAN I HELP?"
Well, this year we are asking our community and local businesses to donate silent auction baskets for the event. At the event (and online) we will have our silent auction, where we can use these donations to bolster the program. You could also be a patron for the vocal music department (this includes the musical as well). Any sort of donation or help goes towards giving our students the best possible environment to perform successfully. The event this year is November 2nd and we would need all items before November 1st. Please drop off all donations at the High School or shoot me an email and I can arrange for it to be picked up from your respective school.
I have attached the flier for basket donations. All patron donations can be found at the following link: https://forms.gle/x3jU92EqJsKucJvr9
P.S. All donations can be written off from your taxes due to the Music Boosters being a Non-Profit...

Medications at School
Sometimes parents ask that school personnel administer medication to their child during the school day. When this is necessary, we require written permission and instructions from the parent and in some instances from the doctor. The required form must be completed and turned in to the junior high office with the medication to be administered.
