Wessagusset Elementary School
October 26, 2025
Dear Wessagusset Families,
It is really beginning to feel and look like fall! We hope you have had a wonderful weekend.
Wessagusset was buzzing with fall fun and learning last week. In Kindergarten, our students explored the Five Senses through some very seasonal activities! Mrs. Kelly’s class made delicious applesauce, Mrs. Labriola’s class got creative carving a pumpkin, and Ms. Murphy’s class had a blast decorating mini pumpkins.
The classrooms smelled like apples and pumpkins and were filled with smiles, and the excitement of autumn!
Mrs. Lindquist’s class enjoyed a wonderful field trip to Nihtila Farm in Holbrook! Students had a great time going on a hayride, picking pumpkins, and visiting the farm animals. It was a fun and memorable fall adventure for everyone

Dear Wessagusset Families,
We hope you had a wonderful weekend enjoying the beautiful weather!
Last Thursday, our students participated in a Bus Evacuation Drill. Everyone listened carefully and followed the bus driver’s instructions with respect and attention. Students successfully practiced exiting from the back of the bus, and both bus riders and non-riders took part in the drill.
Our staff and students have worked diligently to complete the fall benchmark assessments. Families can view their child’s results in Aspen. Please log in using the same credentials you used to check placement at the end of the summer.
Our fifth grade is leading a special service project Coats for Kids & Families. They are collecting gently used coats of all sizes. If you would like to contribute a coat no longer being worn by anyone in your family, please see the flyer below for more details.
Some families may be celebrating Diwali tomorrow, October 20. Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, is one of the most important holidays for many South Asian communities. It’s a time for families and friends to gather, light lamps, share sweets, and celebrate the triumph of light over darkness.
Have a wonderful week!
Kind regards,
Mrs. Jango, Principal
Mrs. Reinhart, Assistant Principal

Dear Wessagusset Families,
We want to remind you there tomorrow is Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples’ Day. Weymouth Public Schools and Wessagusset will be closed in honor of this day.
Columbus Day is a federal U.S. holiday commemorating the voyage and landing of Italian explorer Christopher Columbus in the “New World” on October 12, 1492.
Indigenous Peoples’ Day honors the histories, cultures, and perspectives of Indigenous peoples and their ancestors who lived on the land now known as North America. They existed in these areas for thousands of years before the first European explorers arrived. This day promotes awareness of Indigenous peoples’ struggles, resilience, and unique traditions, fostering understanding and unity among diverse cultures.
Have a wonderful week!
Kind regards,
Mrs. Jango, Principal
Mrs. Reinhart, Assistant Principal
Our Families are the Heart of Wessagusset
At Wess our families and students are at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to creating a strong sense of belonging for every member of our school community.
One way we are fostering this sense of belonging is through our new Welcome Sign displayed at the school entrance. This sign will continue to evolve as new families join our community. Our goal is to greet every family entering Wessagusset in their home or first languages. Currently, the sign features 10 languages, with four more being added later this week.
Another way we are celebrating our school community is with our Family & Staff Photo Bulletin Board. Originally created in recent years, we are now updating it with new photos of both students’ families and staff members' families.
If you would like your family to be included, please send in a 4x6 photo with your student’s name and teacher’s name written on the back.
We look forward to seeing all of our Wessagusset families’ smiling faces proudly displayed on the board throughout the year!

Dear Wessagusset Families,
We had our first All-School Assembly this past Tuesday in the gym. We introduced our new Paw cards and how we will be working to earn whole-school rewards this year. We sang Happy Birthday to all our friends who celebrated their birthday in September. Staff members volunteered for a Minute-to-Win it game. Students cheered for their teachers!
We awarded Wess the Wildcat to Ms. Murphy's classroom for earning the most paws in September. Tess the Turtle was awarded to Mrs. Cosgrove's classroom for the second highest number of paws earned. Gus the Guppy was awarded to Mrs. Litchfield's classroom for the third highest number of paws earned. Mrs. Ferreira's classroom earned the Golden Dustpan award for the cleanest classroom. Congratulations to our award winners!
Encourage your students to keep following our ROAR expectations!
Reminder: We have an Early Release Day on Tuesday, October 7th. Students will be dismissed at 11:50 am. No lunches will be served.
Have a wonderful week!
Kind regards,
Mrs. Jango, Principal
Mrs. Reinhart, Assistant Principal
ST Math October Pumpkin Challenge
In-School Math Challenge
Our ST Math Champions, Mrs. Desmond and Mrs. Ferreira, will be monitoring our in-school ST Math progress during the month of October. As class demonstrates progress, a Jiji pumpkin will be added to each classroom door every Friday afternoon for all the work our students are doing with ST Math at school. The classroom with the most pumpkins at the end of October will earn a little something extra special.
This is an in-school challenge only.
