Hi Caverly Families!
I hope you all had a wonderful winter break and were able to spend quality time with the people you love. Thank you for all your contributions for our celebration back in December. We had a great time decorating cookies together, it was the sweetest way to wrap up our learning! We had a great first week back, it was so nice to return to our cozy cabin in the woods, exploring with friends and settling back into our routine.
This week we began learning all about ice and snow. Our dramatic play center has transformed into the Caverly Skating Rink, where students have been building math, literacy, social skills, and gross motor skills during their pretend play! Learning through play creates meaningful learning opportunities. Students have been sorting skates by size, measuring their feet when trying on skates, reading labels throughout the center, reading the menu, writing and reading snack orders, using rich vocabulary related to ice skating when they interact with their friends, counting money, writing numbers to create receipts, โskatingโ on the ice (balance), and playing โhockeyโ (hand eye coordination). If your child visits a skating rink outside of school please send pictures my way!
