2025 is off to a quick start and January is already behind us! The NRESC is looking forward to a very successful second half of the school year! We thank every member of our family for all that you do and for entrusting us with providing services on a daily basis!

Save the Date! Ramapo Avenue Learning Center Ribbon Cutting: February 10

We have completed our first month at the Ramapo Avenue Learning Center and we are well on our way to filling up all of our daycare seats! Please join us for a special ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, February 10, at 1pm.

Save This Date As Well! NRESC Education Foundation Golf Outing: May 19

It's official: the NRESC Education Foundation has booked its first golf outing! Monday, May 19 at 12pm, at the Preakness Valley Golf Course in Wayne, is the big day!


Further information to follow but get your clubs ready! Dr. Vancheri may have to break out his golf swing and trust us, it will not be pretty! If you are interested in supporting the work of the foundation, please email edfoundation@nresc.org

V Cast at JP Holland!

JP Holland Charter School's new faculty members were trained on the Vcast software by the NRESC technology team. This training ensured that new staff members were knowledgeable of all technology available on day one!

Keeping an updated inventory of toner is key to ensuring that partner school districts know where their money is being spent for the upcoming fiscal year. Inventory is a breeze when you have the NRESC technology team!

The NRESC Rocked TechSpo 2025!

Mr. Brian Zinn, NRESC Director of Shared Technology Services, represented the NRESC well at the 2025 TechSpo Conference in Atlantic City! Brian is excited to share what he learned with his technology staff, as well as the NRESC administrative team. Pictured on the right is a wonderful partner superintendent (and Vice President of the NRESC Board of Directors), Dr. Mike Nicosia, Superintendent of the Bloomingdale Public Schools.

Welcome Lacey Township Public Schools to the Transportation Family!

The NRESC transportation department is proud to welcome the Lacey Township Public Schools to the NRESC family. Although the entire NRESC casts a wide net for its services, the transportation department definitely covers the state with contracts from High Point to Atlantic City!

A Night to Remember: ERC Charities 3rd Annual Gala

The NRESC was once again proud to attend the ERC Charities Annual Gala. As a benefactor of ERC Charities, we cannot thank them enough for their continuous support of Second Home. This year, Bianca Angeli of Second Home was a recipient of ERC Charities yearly scholarship and her family is very excited to put it to good use.

Mighty Mike's Special Needs Basketball Clinic is Rocking Out!

The NRESC's first dip into the world of recreational programming for individuals with special needs has been a major hit! Mighty Mike and his "Bounce Out the Stigma" basketball program has been a hit for children from Little Falls, Woodland Park, and Totowa. We thank the Totowa PAL for the use of their gym for this six-week program and we are close to advertising for our spring baseball/softball camp. Come the fall, we are looking to have a comprehensive set of recreational and fitness offerings countywide for both children and adults with special needs.

Dr. Haimowitz & Dr. Finelli will Present at CEC 2025!

Dr. Brad Haimowitz and Dr. Nancy Finelli will be presenting about the great work NRESC is doing with hospital bound students at CEC 2025 in Baltimore, Maryland! We are so proud of the entire Phoenix program for redefining how hospital bound instruction should look.

New Year & New Goals at St. James

At St. James, school counselor Ms. Giunta led a meaningful lesson on goal setting with second graders. Students collaborated in groups to create classroom resolutions and set personal goals for the year.

Be Part of the Change at the Phoenix Center

As part of their unit on Matter, Phoenix students learned about recycling. In this lesson, students learned how plastic is separated by number, recycled, and then the physical changes to follow. Students then located the recycle number and symbol on different plastic containers.

Meet Sebastian: Hope's Student of the Month for January!

This month, Hope teachers decided to implement a "Student of the Month" program to celebrate our student achievements. Meet Sebastian, a dedicated junior at Hope! His commitment to his studies and future is truly inspiring. After graduation, Sebastian plans to enlist in the Navy to serve our country. Congrats again to Sebastian!

Children are enjoying their time in daycare, playing, learning, and making new friends. Whether they’re playing, learning to spell, or exploring, their days are filled with joy, laughter, and discovery in a nurturing environment.

Melting Snowmen via Occupational Therapy

Shoutout to Ms. Macey, one of our amazing OTs, for creating cross-curricular sessions featuring melting snowmen! From fine motor skills (pincher grip), to math (counting popsicle sticks), to writing, Ms. Macey is making learning hands-on and fun!

Upper Body Building in OT Sessions

Ms. Bavalia's pre-k students in Clifton worked their upper body strengthening, eye hand coordination, self regulation, and turn taking with this heavy work/movement based activity. The students used weighted balls to shoot hoops!

Second Home participants had an amazing time at Lifetown! They had the chance to explore and share in "real world" experiences! Participants are already asking about their next visit!
