Next June, students and teachers are heading to Costa Rica for 9 days in paradise. After the last final exam has been submitted and we’ve crossed all of the items off of our to-do list, we will be switching into vacation mode.

We will hop on a plane and jet off to one of the most beautiful countries on the planet. Are you up for an adventure? How about a swim at hot springs located at the base of a volcano? Tour the cloud forest from above via zipline and hanging bridges? Of course we will also have a couple of days at the beach!

We have a few spots left. Please see Mrs. Edgar or Ms. K with any questions.

Guidance News Guidance News

As we move further into the school year, the Guidance Department has been hard at work supporting our seniors with important deadlines, FAFSA applications and any necessary schedule changes.

Course selection for the 2025-2026 school year is also underway, ensuring that students are on track for their academic goals.

In addition, we are ramping up preparations for the upcoming MCAS exams, and we encourage students to stay focused, well-rested and come prepared for testing.

We will be meeting with all juniors to discuss the MEFA Pathways program, an essential tool for post-graduate planning. This platform will help students explore college and career options, financial aid resources and next steps for their future.

As always, we are here to support our students—please reach out with any questions or concerns!

Here are some tricks that can help you and your student when your anxiety gets the best of you.

  1. Acknowledge your anxiety - in your mind say to yourself “High anxiety is a normal human emotion . . . I’m OK.”

  2. Take a deep breath in, hold it and then expel all the air in your lungs - repeat.

  3. Sit down and put your hands on your legs, stretch your arms and connect to your body.

  4. Go into a quiet room, shut your eyes to remove yourself from stimulation.

  5. Name 5 things you can see, touch and smell orienting yourself to the present.

  6. Go for a walk outside and get fresh air.

  7. Listen to music.

  8. Hum to yourself, the vibrations in your throat are soothing.

  9. Splash cold water on your face to disrupt the powerful emotions.

Be gentle on yourself. As mentioned before, high anxiety is a normal human emotion. It doesn’t do you any good to judge it. In fact, fighting high anxiety can often lead to feeling anxious about your anxiety. Take the judgement out of it and accept that it is there for a reason.

Drama Club Drama Club

The West Bridgewater Community is invited to attend the final dress rehearsal for “Glory,” WB Drama Club’s entry into the 2025 Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild State Drama Festival on Thursday February 27th at 7:00 p.m. The drama club is asking for feedback from local theater fans before taking the show to Bourne High School on March 1st to compete in the first round against seven other local high schools, with the hopes of moving on to the semifinals.

About the show:

Inspired by the true story of Canada's own Preston Rivulettes, Glory is a hockey play that swings! In 1933, four friends set out to prove to Canada that hockey isn’t just a sport for men. But with the Great Depression weighing heavily on the nation and political tensions rising in Europe, can they overcome the odds, and people’s expectations, to forge their own path to glory? Told through music and dance inspired by the jazz age, Glory is a thrilling hockey story that proves a woman’s place is on home ice.

The run time for Glory is 45 minutes including the competition mandated five minute set build. The show is appropriate for all audiences. Admission is free and the Drama Club will be collecting donations at the door and raffling off some cool hockey related items!

During the week of February 3rd, 11th grade students in Ms. Almeida's class had their Great Gatsby parties. After researching the 1920s and explaining how the historical information they find is thematically connected to the book (in terms of ideas such as class, gender, and the American dream), students are ready to eat snacks, listen to music, and decorate the classroom with all things related to the Roaring Twenties or The Great Gatsby.

Students in Ms. Almeida’s Classic Horror in Literature and Film class have gone through the foundational material that makes up horror literature and film (such as the components of a horror story and the characteristics of each genre). They are now ready to write their own one-page horror short stories.

Varsity Boys Basketball: The Boys Basketball team lost a close one to Holbrook, 59-62. With Holbrook leading at the half 36-27, the Wildcats fought hard in the fourth to tie the game at 51-51. With about 5 seconds left on the clock, the Wildcats were down 59-62 with a chance to tie the game and go into overtime. Hayden Razza grabs an offensive rebound off of a missed shot by the Wildcats, takes 2 dribbles back towards the 3 point line and without hesitation he fires up a contested 3 point shot which hits the front rim and bounces to a Holbrook player. And just like that, the game ends 62-59 with a great hard fought opportunity to go into overtime. Although trailing most of the game, the Wildcats showed resilience in their fight to come back in the fourth. The Wildcats were led by Jag Garces with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals; Armani Lloret with 11 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists; Ben Stapleton with 10 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists; Lamar Valentina with 9 points and 11 rebounds; Henry Sainrisme with 6 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists and Hayden Razza with 3 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 steal.

Grace Polen, Jill Bouvier, and Ava O’Neil were all over the glass securing a ton of rebounds for the Wildcats. Sarah Florio was lighting it up from behind the arc hitting a few clutch 3s. WEB Boys Ice Hockey- Despite a tough 6-0 loss to Norwell, WEB Boys Ice Hockey Goalie Brayden Bates continued to showcase his skill and determination in goal! He faced an intense offensive attack, stopping an impressive 35 of the 41 shots fired his way. Despite the final score, his effort and resilience in goal were evident throughout the game, making several key saves to keep his team in the fight. The team returns to the ice this week vs Sandwich.
