🌏Next Passport Testing Days: October 19th and November 16th!

Passport Club is a fun, parent-run geography program for Scholls Heights students to build their geography knowledge through quizzes on designated maps — optional for grades 2–4 and required for 5th grade. Students can choose from five levels and move at their own pace.

Can’t find your map? More maps are always available by the Passport bulletin board at the top of the stairs near the elevator.

Students do best when they have a study partner at home (a parent, grandparent, friend, sibling, anyone!). They can choose how many levels to study, although we recommend everyone try at least level one to kick off the year. Students will earn stamps in their passport for the places they can identify… the more they know, the more they earn!

🏆REMINDER for Fifth graders: Score Level 5 six or more times this year to earn your own National Geographic Atlas! 📕

Interested in helping on Passport Check Days? Sign-ups are available on ParentSquare!

👣 Walking School Bus 👣 👣 Walking School Bus 👣

👟 Join the Walking School Bus! It’s a supervised group of students who walk to school together from a set meeting spot. Choose between two different routes that meet weekly on either Wednesdays or Fridays. Along the way, kids make new friends 🤝, earn fun prizes 🎉, and get to know their neighborhood 🏡. Walking together makes the trip to school safer, easier, and way more fun.

Parents can join the walk, or simply drop students off with our Walking School Bus volunteer — making this a convenient option for busy families.

Route 1:

📍 Meeting Spot: Thrush Lane & 158th Terrace

⏱️ Meeting Day/Time: Wednesdays @ 8:00 am
👟 0.5 miles = about a 14 min walk to school

Route 2:

📍 Meeting Spot: Barrows Rd & 175th Terrace

⏱️ Meeting Day/Time: Fridays @ 8:00 am
👟 0.6 miles = about a 15 min walk to school

Please reach out to our Walking School Bus Chair, Nick Barrett at walkingschoolbus@shpto.org, if you are interested in joining the email mailing list to stay up to date on the event and walking days (plus weather cancellations).

October Grant Highlights October Grant Highlights

PTO Community Update: Approved October Grants!

We are excited to share the news from our October community meeting, where four new grant requests were officially approved! Thanks to the generosity and support of our school community, these funded projects will enhance our classrooms, streamline school operations, and improve campus facilities right away.

Our youngest learners are getting a boost with a $1,100 Kindergarten Reading & Math Grant. This funding equips our kinder team with brand-new book boxes to keep independent reading materials organized, alongside sets of linker cubes—an essential hands-on math tool that helps students build early counting, pattern-making, and problem-solving skills.

Over in first grade, Mrs. Bates received a $366 Classroom Rug Grant to replace her current floor seating with a vibrant, supportive new rug. Floor gathering spaces are the heart of primary classrooms—serving as the central hub for morning meetings, read-alouds, and group instruction—and this fresh addition will make group learning time even more comfortable and inviting for her students.

To support our school’s sustainability efforts, we are also investing $360 in Upgraded Bottle Drop Collection Bins. These new, durable bins will make it easier and more efficient for our school to participate in the Bottle Drop program, encouraging recycling habits across campus while helping turn returned bottles and cans into funds for future school projects.

Finally, we are addressing campus access with an $800 South Entrance Bike Rack Grant. As more students ride their bikes and scooters to school, this new rack provides bike parking at the south entrance, keeping our grounds tidy and encouraging healthy, active transit for our families.

Thank you to everyone who attends our PTO meetings and contributes to our fundraising efforts—your support directly shapes a better school experience for all of our students and staff!
