This past Thursday Jerabek participated in the Great California ShakeOut! Our students and staff did a fantastic job in this statewide earthquake preparedness drill.

Great job Koalas!

Parents/Guardians please be advised that if you have not completed the Universal Form - Photo/Video/Media Release in Powerschool Parent Portal, your student's picture will not be published in this year's yearbook.

In addition, if you checked the Do Not Publish box, this includes yearbook and your student's picture will not be included.

The next Scripps Ranch Schools Committee meeting is on Wednesday, October 21 from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m.

Our topic is “District Math Curriculum and Program Updates.” Ms. Jessica Walsh, Program Manager for TK-12 Mathematics, will share updates on the math curriculum, focus areas for the year and the mid to long term vision overall.

We will also have a very special guest: San Diego Unified Superintendent Fabiola Bagula will join us and provide some district updates.

Our school is asking all families to complete the Local Control Funding Formula, or LCFF, form for the 2026-27 school year. THESE FORMS DIRECTLY IMPACT SCHOOL FUNDING.

The LCFF form is short, confidential, and helps ensure our school receives the state funding and resources for which we are eligible.

Families can complete the form in the PowerSchool Parent Portal using a parent/guardian account. Please note that the form is not available through student accounts.

To complete the form:

1. Log in to your PowerSchool Parent Portal account at https://powerschool.sandi.net

2. Select the LCFF Data Collection in the left hand navigation.

3. Complete and submit the short form for your student.

4. Need help? Reference this step-by-step guide in English, Spanish, Vietnamese

(Please Note: The LCFF form is not available in the PowerSchool mobile app, but can be completed by visiting https://powerschool.sandi.net from the internet browser on any device – phone, tablet, laptop or computer.)

If you need help accessing your Parent Portal account, locating your student’s Access ID and Password, or completing the form, please contact our school office.

Families who are unable to complete the form online may also complete the form one of the following ways:

• Online via the unique link to be emailed to you from survey@sandiegounified.org via SurveyMonkey

• In-person at your child’s school

Jerabek Elementary will begin a Whole Site Modernization project this year. The project involves new building for TK, K and 1st grade and whole site improvements. SDUSD is finalizing project details and is creating fact sheets to distribute upon final approval. The proposed phasing for the 2026-2027 school year is as follows:

Spring Break 2027 - Set up staging area SW corner of parking lot

May 2027 - Install portable bungalows on west playground

May/June2027 - Begin relocation prep

Relocation from current bungalows will begin after the school year is over and will not interrupt our testing schedule. Many of our school events this year have earlier calendar dates to accommodate the project kick-off.

** Please be advised that SDUSD is processing volunteers for all SDUSD schools and there is a long delay. We apologize for this delay, but will work to ensure that your volunteer opportunities are not impacted!

Take Excellent Care!

In honor of National Principals Month, we’re celebrating Mr. McDade with a little hide-and-seek! From Thursday, October 22, through Thursday, October 29, look for 100 pictures of Mr. McDade hidden throughout Jerabek.

Keep the pictures you find! The hunt must take place outside of instructional time.

On Friday, October 30, place your collected pictures in an envelope labeled with your first and last name, teacher’s name, and a parent or guardian’s phone number or email. Drop your envelope in the box in the office labeled “The Great McDade Hunt.”

Whoever finds the most wins a special gift! We’ll contact the winner’s parent or guardian directly. Happy hunting.
