Welcome Back Lone Pine WILDCATS! - Aug./Sept.2025
đ The First Day of School for Students is August 25th đ
Dear Lone Pine Families,
I hope you and your family have enjoyed a wonderful summer filled with rest, laughter, and memorable moments together. As we prepare for the start of a new school year, we are excited to welcome our students backâready to be Braver, Stronger, and Better than ever before!
This year brings exciting opportunities for growth with the introduction of our new math curriculum, designed to engage students in deeper learning, spark curiosity, and build essential skills for the future. We cannot wait to see the amazing things our students will accomplish.
On Tuesday late afternoon, you will receive an email with information about your childâs teacher for the upcoming year. We know this is an eagerly anticipated detail, and weâre working to ensure a smooth and welcoming start for every student. Please plan on joining us on Thursday, August 21 from 5:00-7:00 at our Open House/Back to School Night to meet your child's teacher and get updates and important information for the school year.
Thank you for your partnership and support in making our school a place where every child can thrive. Hereâs to a fantastic school year ahead!
In collaboration,
Lara Liden, Principal
Ashlie Moore, Assistant Principal

Pikmykid
In our ongoing efforts to enhance your childrenâs safety, we will be using a dismissal platform, Pikmykid. In the spring we piloted the program and will continue to use it to support a smoother dismissal. The unique features of Pikmykid allow you to easily change pick up modes, quickly delegate to an alternate individual for pickup and even schedule for future pickup accommodations directly from your phone! This app allows you to be in full control of your childâs dismissal and gives us, LONE PINE ELEMENTARY, complete information regarding every dismissal. We will be using the Pikmykid for all students who exit the campus in the car pickup line and the bus. At this time, we will not be using the platform to dismiss our students that walk off the campus.
Please familiarize yourself with the following:
Pickup Tags: Each family will be able to collect two pickup tags per student at the Open House on Thursday, August 21 near the amphitheater. These can be shared with other family members, as needed. However, these will only need to be used in cases where you and/or pick up delegates do not have access to the Pikmykid Parent App.
Parent App User Guide: This guide attached provides you with step by step instructions on how to download the Pikmykid Parent App as well as how to utilize the parent app for all things related to dismissal. It is vital for the safety and security of our students that you get registered via the Pikmykid Parent App. This includes any delegates who pick up as well. The Pikmykid parent app allows for instant guardian verification so we can ensure that the proper parent/guardian/delegate is picking up as well as ensure that the proper pick up mode for that day is reported.
Car Pickup Line: Once you have downloaded the Pikmykid Parent App, you will announce your arrival when you drive on campus via the app by pressing the GREEN announce button in the app. This will allow you to notify staff of your arrival. If you have delegated someone to pick up via the Parent App, they can also download the app and announce themselves in the same fashion.
Bus Riders: Staff use Pikmykid to mark students as âbus ridersâ at dismissal, ensuring they get to the correct bus and providing real-time updates to parents who are using the app.
Walkers: At this time, staff will not be announcing dismissal on the app, and parents of walkers will not need to announce their arrival. Parents can make changes in itinerary using the app.
ALL Student - Dismissal Changes: - Advanced Appointments or Same-Day Changes:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday â until 1:45 PM
Wednesday â until 12:30 PM
The app will also be used to notify families in cases where we need to dismiss all students early, such as during unexpected events like surprise snow daysâď¸đ.
Make sure to download the PIKMYKID App today!
Arrival and Dismissal
The safety of your child(ren) is of utmost importance to Lone Pine. Arrival and dismissal are the most hectic times of the day, so we want to make you aware of some systems that are in place to ensure smooth transitions.
BusâLone Pine has 3 buses that drop off and pick up students to our campus. The bus will use the bus loop for arrival and dismissal. In the morning, students who ride on the bus will be able to use the bus gate to get onto campus, and then after buses have left the gate will be closed.
Car Pick Up and Drop Off Line LoopâDrop -Off/Pick-Up Loop
Cones will be set out to ensure drivers remain in the loop to continue to keep our students safe.
Our Drop off and Pick up Line is one way, Enter in the parking lot off Brookdale and exit RIGHT on Lone Pine.
WalkingâPlease model and support crossing the street in crosswalks when walking to the Lone PIne campus. Crossing guards are located at the following interesections locations:
McAndrews/Brookedale Ave.
Ruby Dr./Brookdale Ave
Lone Pine Rd./Brookdale Ave
Crossing the parking lot on Lone Pine rd.
WillowGlen Way/Lone Pine.
Parent Walk Up- Soccer Gate and Bus Loop Dismissal âSoccer Gate near front of the School
If walking south on Brookdale
- Your child will exit through the Soccer Gate (front of the school).
- This applies if youâre heading to neighboring streets or a parked car in that direction.
- Your child will exit through the Bus Loop. This includes neighborhoods such as Kerrisdale, Willow Glen, and Larue.
Kinder parents can pick-up their child from their teacher in front of the school by the soccer gate.
Parking on and around our campus is limited. This is especially the case during special events. In addition to our parking lots, there is parking available along the side streets. Please be respectful and do not block the neighborhood driveways.
Changing Dismissal Options
-
Example: switching from bus ride to parent pickup.
-
Best practice: use the Pikmykid app.
-
Important: The app will not allow changes after 1:45 PM.
If you need to make a last minute changes. Call the office by 2:15 and we will do our best to get that communication to your childâs teacher.
Volunteers in the Medford School District - VIM's
Volunteers In Medford (VIMâs) There are many opportunities for families to volunteer at our school. If you want to support learning in the classroom, attend any field trips or complete the VIM online application found on the Medford School District website under Volunteer at MSD. The online application is easy to complete and is good for 2 years. If you want to know the status of your VIM, call the office.
Student Placement
A great deal of time, effort and thought has gone into the process of student placement for the 2025-2026 school year. Careful consideration was given around individual student needs, learning styles and preferences when determining classroom placements. Classrooms have been balanced academically and socially. Our class lists are structured to provide equitable class sizes at each grade level. You will receive communication from your childâs/childrenâs teacher on the August 19 in the afternoon. At this time we ask that you not contact the office about placement matters.
Thank you for being positive and helping your child understand that it is impossible to place all students with a preferred best friend or teacher. We strive to make school a positive experience for all. Thank you for understanding that it can take a few weeks for a child to acclimate to a new grade, peer group and teacher.
