Message From Mrs. Petersen
Hello Farmington Families!
We know that kids learn best when they feel safe and comfortable! Feeling a strong sense of belonging and safety at school is the foundation for a great school year. A big part of feeling safe is knowing what to do if an emergency ever happens. We want everyone in our building to feel prepared and confident in a variety of situations.
To make sure everyone knows their options and feels ready, we hold at least one emergency drill every month throughout the school year. These important practice sessions cover different scenarios, including fire drills (practicing how to safely and quickly exit the building), tornado drills (knowing where to go for the best protection during severe weather), and safety drills (reviewing procedures for various situations that might require us to secure the building). The goal is to ensure that every person in our building knows exactly what steps to take, just in case!
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about the types of drills we practice, how often we hold them, or anything else related to building safety. Your peace of mind is important to us!
Take Care,
Angie Petersen

Homecoming Dress Up Days!
Fall Parent Teacher Conferences
Oct. 29th 4-8pm, Oct. 30 8-10am, Nov. 5th 4-6pm
We know many families have evening commitments, so we wanted to give some daytime options. On Oct. 30th the kids don't have school, and the teachers will begin their professional development day with two hours of parent teacher conferences.
Before coming in for conferences, feel free to reach out to your child(ren)'s teacher with any questions or topics you'd like to discuss. Please note that Mrs. Adelmeyer will not be available on the evening of the 5th.
We are excited to spend some time talking with each of our FES families!
School Fees and Intramurals
Intramurals: Grades 4 and 5
As outlined in our school handbook, students must have all outstanding school fees paid in full (or an active payment plan established) to participate in school-sponsored activities, including elementary intramurals.
To ensure your student does not miss any of the activities, please review the unpaid fees in Skyward and settle your account as soon as possible. For questions on how to access the fees in Skyward, please feel free to contact our office at 262-626-3102 ext. 7004, or email our school secretary, Mrs. Seiser, at kseiser@kewaskumschools.org
If your family is experiencing hardship and would like to discuss the possibility of waiving school fees this year, please reach out to Mrs. Petersen at apetersen@kewaskumschools.org or by phone 262-626-3054.
Thank you for your understanding and attention to this matter.
A message from Mrs. Adelmeyer:
FES Student Glimpse
At Farmington Elementary, supporting your child’s emotional well-being and sense of belonging is just as important to us as their academic growth.
All students will participate in a short social skills and Connection Survey. This survey is designed to help us better understand how connected our students feel at school and how their social skills are developing.
How this helps our students:
Personalized Support: Helps us identify children who might benefit from small group activities, one-on-one sessions, or a little extra encouragement during the school day.
Better School Culture: Gives us clear feedback on how supported and included students feel in our school community.
Effective Programs: Helps us evaluate our school-wide programs to ensure we are meeting every child's needs.
What to expect: Mrs. Adelmeyer will visit each classroom to walk students through the survey step-by-step. Before starting, she will explain what a survey is and how to share their honest answers.
If you have any questions about the survey or how the information will be used to support your child, please feel free to reach out to Mrs. Petersen and Mrs. Adelmeyer.
Thank you for partnering with us to support your child’s growth!
Warmly,
Mrs. Adelmeyer

FES has partnered with McDonalds for their I'm Lovin' Reading program. During the week of October 5th, your child will come home with a I'm Lovin' Reading reading log. Your child will need to read 20 books, fill in their reading log, then have you or their teacher sign the log. Once completed, students can take their reading log to a participating Kilian Management McDonalds for a free Happy Meal! Happy reading!

Pick-Up and Drop Off Routines
Each family has been assigned a number to help with the efficiency of pick-ups. Cards will be handed out to most families at Open House with the student's last name and the family number on the card. If you need another card, please contact Mrs. Seiser. You can replicate the information on your own piece of paper, making sure the number and last name are large enough to be visible from 5 to 6 feet from your vehicle.
When you're in the vehicle line, please pull as far forward as possible-this allows us to get more vehicles off of the road.
If you will be picking up your child(ren) at the end of the day, please park in the right lane of the Pick Up/Drop Off area. Stay in your vehicle, and have your card visible. The first car in the line should park at the end of the sidewalk on the right hand side. A staff member will come out read the cards, and send that information into the building. Next, those students will come out, load their cars, and a group of cars will be waved to leave. Then, all cars will pull as far forward as they can, and we will repeat the process. If everyone follows the same protocols the line will be efficient and most importantly, it will be a safe way to dismiss all students. Students will begin to be dismissed to vehicles at 3:40.
So, what can you do if you arrive and the pick up/drop off loop is full during pick-up at the end of the day?
- You could choose to park in the visitor's lot and walk to the front door with your family number to pick up your child.
- You could choose to drive around the block and come back at a later time.
- You could choose to plan to come to pick up your child anytime after 3:46 (by this time our first two sections of vehicles have been dismissed and there typically is no longer a line).
- You could choose to wait on the road-again, we are hoping vehicles only wait on the east shoulder of the road, (the side closest to the building) to create more space for traveling vehicles on the road.
**These routines may change during the year if we find the current procedures do not fit our school needs. Any changes will be communicated to you through a newsletter/Skyward message.**
