Trail Blazer Bulletin May 12-16

Dear Trail Blazer Community
I hope that you had a great weekend. I want to take a moment to wish a Happy Belated Mother’s Day to all the mothers in the Trail Blazer community. Your love, strength, and sacrifices are the cornerstones of our families and our school, and we are so grateful for your support. I hope that you were well-celebrated!
Looking ahead to the final weeks of the school year, I’m filled with anticipation for our upcoming Graduation celebration which serves as a powerful reminder of the strong foundation we’ve built as a school community. It is a testament to the dedication and perseverance of our students and staff, and I cannot wait to celebrate their achievements together.
TikTok Trend
We wanted to make you aware of a dangerous trend circulating on TikTok that has already resulted in school evacuations in other cities and also poses a significant safety risk to our students. Students are recording themselves damaging school-issued Chromebooks forcing an electrical short circuit on a Chromebook by inserting items such as paper clips, pencil graphite, pushpins, folded metallic gum wrappers, aluminum foil, etc. into the USB port. This action can cause Chromebook batteries to short-circuit, leading to smoke, fire, and potential explosions. This is the time of year when we do see damage to Chromebooks increase so please help us by reminding students about the proper use of school-issued devices. Staff and students should be especially watchful for students inserting objects into Chromebook ports, forcibly removing keys, or otherwise tampering with the devices. Thank you for your help with this!
As a reminder, here is the information in the 1:1 handbook regarding intentional damage.

Submit Your Roof of Residency
Families of secondary students should submit Proof of Residency by May 23, 2025.
Secondary students submitting PORs after the deadline may not receive their schedule prior to the start of school.
Schedules will only be released for students who have completed the annual registration process, submitted a valid POR and have no holds on campus.
Two steps to complete 25-26 registration:
Annual Returning Registration: You must complete this or your student will not be able to start on the first day of school (August 13, 2025).
Proof of Residency: Please upload a copy of your most recent Proof of Residency (water, gas or electric statement only). (Visit www.friscoisd.org/about/enrollment/proof-of-residency)
If you are submitting an affidavit, both the guardian and the homeowner must be present at the school to meet with an Assistant Principal. Email the Data Clerk at slaglea@friscoisd.org to request an appointment. It is important to note that the deadline to submit a valid Proof of Residency is May 23, 2025 for secondary students to view their schedule on the first release date. Secondary students submitting Proof of Residency after the deadline may not receive their schedule prior to the start of school.
Transferring to another FISD campus: Please complete the annual returning registration and upload your “New” proof of residency and we will take care of the transfer for you.
Not returning to Lebanon Trail or FISD next school year: Please complete the annual returning registration and indicate where your student will be attending so we can send official records.
If you’re leaving Lebanon Trail or FISD, please make sure all school items are returned before departure. (Chromebook, library books, textbooks, sport uniforms, etc)
Haven’t registered yet? It’s not too late! Learn more about registration for 2025-26.

Student Spotlight
Lebanon Trail High School senior Karina Roberts was recently awarded the Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) Area 19 Joseph C. Gilliam Academic Achievement Award. She is the first Cadet to receive this award in the history of the Lebanon Trail NJROTC program. The Gilliam Award recognizes the top cadets from each of the NJROTC areas nationwide and is highly competitive. Senior Naval Science instructors from around the country are only able to nominate one cadet from their program each year. The award is based on the cadets’ demonstrated leadership, academic record, community service, and essays. The award was established more than 40 years ago to honor outstanding cadets who balance exemplary work in their Navy JROTC activities with excellence in academics. Cadet Roberts has consistently demonstrated exceptional commitment to the core values of NJROTC: honor, courage, and commitment. Her leadership both in the classroom and during unit activities has made a lasting impact on her fellow cadets. Cadet Roberts won the award from over 30 schools with NJROTC units in Area 19 which encompasses most of the Navy schools in Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, and Arkansas. The award is based on the student’s grades as well as an essay which Cadet Roberts wrote: ‘Diplomacy in the Age of Social Media’. The Joseph C. Gilliam Award reflects her outstanding contributions and her role as a model cadet within our program. We are proud to recognize Cadet Roberts for this well-deserved honor and look forward to her continued success. Congratulations to Cadet Roberts, her family, and our NJROTC unit!
Congratulations to Cadet Aditya Kalisetty for being awarded the prestigious Honor Cadet Ribbon during the recent NJROTC Awards Ceremony. This recognition is given to the cadet who has demonstrated exceptional performance in academics, leadership, personal conduct, and physical fitness throughout the year. Cadet Kalisetty’s commitment to excellence has set a high standard within our NJROTC unit. His dedication to his studies, active participation in unit activities, and display of leadership qualities have earned him the respect of both his peers and instructors. The Honor Cadet Ribbon reflects his outstanding contributions to the success and positive reputation of our program.

Caps and/or other FISD-approved regalia and/or attire may not be decorated or amended in any way that disrupts uniformity amongst graduates. For example, a student may wear their personal jewelry or a small pendant, but may not wear a jacket, shawl, etc. that would make the student appear distractingly dissimilar to their graduating peers.
- All items that don’t conform to the above guidelines will be confiscated when students check in at the Ford Center and it is the responsibility of the student to collect those items during diploma pick-up immediately following commencement ceremonies. Lebanon Trail is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
