Congratulations
Model UN
Congratulations to our Model UN students who took part in the annual Model UN Conference held at Towson University in February. Model UN encourages students to act as an international diplomats to a room of their peers, representing one of the member states of the United Nations. The simulation this year was for delegates to propose policy solutions for international refugees. Students advocate for their own policies while learning about other actions taken on the floor. They then participate in a vote to determine which resolution to pass. Freshman Emma Sekonde and Jade Weekes represented Colombia and won the underclassmen position paper award. Seniors Anaiya Hillyer and Amani Gatling represented Mexico and won the upperclassmen position paper.

What's Happening
English
St. Charles seniors have been busy in their English classes preparing for their Senior Interviews taking place next week. The Senior Interview program invites community members into the schools to conduct mock interviews with our soon-to-be-graduates. The initiative aims to provide constructive feedback on their interpersonal skills. Seniors also create a digital portfolio, which showcases their qualifications in the areas of Academic Achievement, College and Career Readiness, and Personal Responsibility.
Architecture & Interior Design
In Mr. Clark's Architecture/Interior Design class, a number of students were proud to present their custom residential housing facade structures made of various cardboard materials and painted with fine detail with tempera paints. Congratulations to these creative and ambitious artists and scholars.
Homework Club
We are excited to announce that we will be hosting a Homework Club on Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Charles High School! This is a great opportunity for students to receive extra help with their assignments, study in a quiet and supportive environment, and collaborate with peers. Homework Club is open to all students who need assistance with their coursework or simply a dedicated space to focus on their studies. Whether you're tackling a challenging assignment, preparing for an upcoming test, or looking for structured study time, we are here to support you.
Students should bring their own materials, including textbooks, notebooks, and any necessary supplies. We encourage everyone to come prepared with specific questions or subjects they’d like to focus on.
To view our available dates and sign up, click here. Signing up in advance helps us know who to expect each Saturday. If you have any questions or need more information, please feel free to reach out to Ms. Sonon at asonon@ccboe.com. We look forward to seeing you at Homework Club and helping you succeed!

Attendance
Regular attendance and punctuality are vital for your student’s success and academic development. Failure is almost always associated with repeated absences occurring for 10 or more days. Per CCPS policy, notes are due within 5 days of your student absence. Late notes will not be considered after the due date. For details about student absences and tardy policy visit our school website at https://stcharles.ccboe.com/about/attendance. All attendance notes should be emailed to SCHSAttendance@ccboe.com.
- Daily Attendance: School starts at 7:25am, at which time students must be physically present in their classes or be marked absent/tardy. Absences also affect eligibility in competitive sports.
- Excused Absences: Illness, mental/behavioral health, family funerals, medical appointments, court summons, or CCPS bus delays/no-shows. Please see guidelines on attendance link.
- Unexcused Absences: Car trouble/flat tire, Work, Busy traffic, Oversleeping, Driver’s test, Family or personal business, Class cutting, Court appointments for personal matters
- Early Dismissal: Student dismissal must take place no later than 1:45pm to ensure minimum disruption to our regular dismissal. If a birth parent or legal guardian (appointed by the courts) is sending someone to pick up his/her child early from school for any reason, he/she must send a written note/email indicating who will be picking up the student and giving consent. Upon receiving the note from the birth parent or legal guardian, the school will then verify its authenticity and check ID of the adult who signs the student out of the building; see the St Charles High School Student Handbook.
- Emergency Contact: Listing an emergency contact does not allow the individual to pick up a student at any given time in a non-emergency situation without prior written authorization from the birth parent/legal guardian (per the Charles County Public Schools Handbook: Emergency Card (2024-2025) Maria V. Navarro, Ed.D. Superintendent of Schools).
Reminders
- Deliveries: Outside deliveries for students are prohibited. Per the county's parent handbook, students are not allowed to receive outside food deliveries. Deliveries from Grub Hub, Door Dash, Uber Eats, Food Scooter, etc. Food deliveries of any kind will be turned away by our main office staff. Deliveries of balloons, cakes, flowers, etc. for students will be stored in the main office until dismissal.
