Dear Grade 10 students and families,
Grade 10 students will take the ELA MCAS next week (Tuesday, March 26, and Wednesday, March 27). Below are a few reminders for testing:
- Later this week, students should check the room lists posted outside the Main Office, in the English wing, and in the morning announcements for their room location.
- Students should arrive at their testing location by 8:30 each morning with their fully charged Watertown Public Schools Chromebook and a book to read once testing is complete.
- Students should report any issues with their Chromebook (not charging, missing keys, not accessing the internet, etc.) to the library as soon as possible.
- Students will be asked to turn in their phones and smartwatches during testing.
As a reminder, students are required to earn a 486 or higher on the ELA test, a 486 or higher on the Math test, pass the Science MCAS, and meet all WHS graduation requirements in order to earn their diploma. Students in the 10th grade who do not earn a passing score will have 4 additional opportunities to take the test (Fall 2024, Spring 2025, Fall 2025, and Spring 2026).
This test administration may also qualify students for the Stanley Z. Koplik Certificate of Master and/or John and Abigail Adams Scholarship. For information about these awards, please visit https://www.doe.mass.edu/scholarships/mastery/Koplik-Adams-compare.html.
We are confident that students are well-prepared for this upcoming administration. Should you have questions about the test content, please contact Ms. Casey Andrews, 8-12 ELA curriculum coordinator. If you have questions about the test administration, please reach out to your student’s school counselor.
Remember, take your time and do your best, students!
