Welcome Back, West Linn-Wilsonville Students and Families! Welcome Back, West Linn-Wilsonville Students and Families!

First Day of School

TIME TO UPDATE YOUR LISTSERV SUBSCRIPTIONS!

As we near the start of the 2022-23 school year, now is a great time to update your ListServ subscriptions. Make sure to access your ListServ subscriptions and subscribe to your new school if you have a student graduating or changing schools. And don't forget to subscribe to WLWV-Homes to keep up-to-date on important District-level information.

ListServ is the primary method that West Linn-Wilsonville schools communicate with families, sending regular newsletters, timely information, and even emergency notifications. To sign up to get news from your school, simply go to www2.wlwv.k12.or.us/News/LatestNews/ListservSS/ and follow the directions.

Mark Your Calendars — First Primary Level Early Release, Professional Growth Wednesday is Next Week!

About once or twice a month, students are released from school two hours early for the District's Professional Growth Wednesdays. Those two hours are used as time for teacher learning, giving staff an opportunity to collaborate and engage in professional development.

That work leads to better teachers and, in turn, better education for students. Mark your calendars for the following Professional Growth Wednesdays this school year. Please note that some Professional Growth Wednesdays affect primary schools only, so if you have students in middle or high school, they may experience a regular school day. Those instances are marked as PRIMARY LEVEL ONLY Professional Growth Wednesdays.

Review Back-to-School Information

Welcome to the 2022-23 school year! Make sure you're caught up on important back-to-school information by visiting the district website. Our district focus is on "belief and belonging" as we launch into another great year of learning!

Changes to Meal Service for 2022-23 School Year

Due to COVID-19 state and federal funding for free meals ending, students will need to pay for meals starting in 2022-23. Eligible families are encouraged to apply for the free and reduced meal program. After applying, families will receive a letter notifying them if they’ve been approved. Families need to apply for the free and reduced meal program every year, even if they’ve applied and been approved previously. Applications can be printed or submitted electronically by visiting the district website. Applications are also available at your child’s school.

Schools will also return to our pre-pandemic meal service protocols starting in 2022-23. Please watch this video with your student and visit the nutrition services website for more information about accessing meals during the school day.

Thank you for your attention to this meal service change.

Volunteer Registration for 2022-23

Volunteer Process for Vaccinated Individuals

During the HelpCounter registration process, individuals will be prompted to upload their proof of vaccination through a Google Form just like last year. That information will continue to be maintained by the Human Resources Department. Once the HelpCounter background check has been completed, and proof of vaccination has been approved, individuals may begin volunteering in schools. Individuals who were approved to volunteer last year do not need to register again this year. Approved volunteers need to re-register every three years.

Volunteer Process for Unvaccinated Individuals

During the HelpCounter registration process, unvaccinated individuals will be prompted to download either a medical or religious exception form. Individuals must submit the appropriate form to their school office either in-person or by email. Once the HelpCounter background check has been completed, and the medical or religious exception form has been approved, individuals may begin volunteering in schools. Individuals who volunteer at multiple schools will be able to do so once approved, regardless of which school they submitted their exception form to.

Safety Update — Update Your Emergency Contact Information

With the current school year coming to a close and next school year right around the corner, now is a good time to update your student(s)' emergency contacts in the event of an emergency. Update emergency contact information in ParentVue or call your school office to update this information.

Check Out the Community Bulletin Board

Families wanting information about resources and additional community partners are encouraged to access the district's Community Bulletin Board. The Community Bulletin Board is where community partners share relevant flyers and information about youth sports, camps and outside learning opportunities, enrichment opportunities, fundraisers, and other community-based opportunities. Community members can also post information to the Community Bulletin Board by submitting a PDF.
