MES Weekly Scoop
It's A Great Day to Be A Bulldog! Bulldogs Don't Quit!
Principal's Note
Week of September 7th-11th
Dear MES Families,
We hope everyone enjoyed the Labor Day weekend! As we begin a new week, it is a great opportunity to reflect on the meaning behind the holidays we recognize and the values they represent.
What is Labor Day?
Labor Day is a federal holiday celebrated on the first Monday of September. It recognizes and honors the contributions and achievements of American workers. It is a time to appreciate the hard work that helps our communities, schools, businesses, and country continue to grow and thrive. We are especially grateful for the many people in our own community whose dedication and hard work make Marysville a wonderful place to live and learn.
Patriot Day
As we move through the week, we will also recognize Patriot Day on September 11, marking the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks. This is a day to remember the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives, honor the first responders and others who made tremendous sacrifices, and remember the families and loved ones whose lives were forever changed.
Our MES staff and students will participate in our community’s memorial service in a meaningful way. We will line up along the north side of the school on Friday and take a moment of silence as we honor those being remembered and show our respect as the memorial procession drives by.
Throughout the week, our teachers will also have age-appropriate conversations with students about Patriot Day, what it symbolizes, and the importance of remembering, honoring, and coming together as a country and as a community.
A Reminder About the Heat
We are also expecting very warm temperatures over the next several days, and the safety of our students is always our top priority. Please make sure your child comes to school with a water bottle filled with water each day. If your child walks home from school, please make sure they have enough water for their walk home as well.
We will continue to monitor the temperatures and make adjustments to outdoor activities as needed.
Thank you for helping us keep our Bulldogs safe, comfortable, and hydrated!
Thank you for partnering with us as we help our students learn not only about academics, but also about hard work, sacrifice, respect, remembrance, and what it means to be part of a community.
Let's have a wonderful week!

Heat Index is 🥵🔥
With temperatures expected to average 100 degrees or higher tomorrow (Tuesday), we want to take extra precautions to keep our students safe and comfortable. During this period of extreme heat, we will limit outdoor activities and time spent outside.
Please help us by making sure your child comes to school with a water bottle filled with water. Students will have access to our water fountains throughout the school day to refill their bottles as needed. Students who walk home will also have an opportunity to refill their water bottle with fresh water before leaving school.
We appreciate your help in keeping our Bulldogs hydrated and safe during these unusually hot temperatures. We will continue to monitor conditions and make adjustments as needed.
FUN FRIDAY was a hit for all!
Fun Friday is a weekly tradition at MES designed to celebrate positive behavior, good choices, and healthy habits at school!
Last Friday, our students had a fantastic time choosing from a variety of activities, including a nature walk, playground fun, Art Hub, a movie, Tenzi, Color Tag, sidewalk chalk, and more!
We love seeing our students enjoying time together, making positive choices, and building great memories with their classmates. We LOVE our Fun Fridays, and we hope our Bulldogs love them too!
Keep making those great choices, Bulldogs—Fun Friday is something to look forward to!

26-27 MARYSVILLE ELEMENTARY STUDENT/PARENT HANDBOOK
26-27 MES Parent Handbook
Our Parent Handbook is an important resource that outlines the expectations, policies, and procedures for the school year. It includes information about academics, attendance, behavior expectations, communication, and ways families can stay engaged in their child’s learning.
We ask that families review the handbook prior to the first day of school so that everyone is familiar with our school guidelines. Please continue to reference it throughout the year whenever questions arise. Working together, we can ensure a safe, supportive, and successful school experience for every child.
Attendance Matters!
📖 1st Grade Highlight 🔢
Fables, Fun, and First Grade Footwork 💃 🕺
Our 1st graders are busy learning, growing, and having a blast! In reading, students are diving into classic fables, exploring characters, and discovering the valuable lessons and unique characteristics hidden within these timeless stories. During math time, they are building strong foundational skills by practicing adding and subtracting 1 and 2 using fun hands-on tools and games. To top it all off, they celebrated their hard work with a high-energy classroom dance party to wiggle out our extra energy and build community.

Respect
We follow the three R's in our building.
Be Ready
Be Responsible
Be Respectful
AND Be Safe
CharacterStrong – Week 2: Respect
Respect is seeing good in others and treating them with care. What do you think that looks like when talking to others? Using Respectful words might look like apologizing when you do or say something that hurts them. For example, if you are sitting at the lunch table and you make a joke about another friend that hurts their feelings, we can show Respect for their feelings by apologizing.
