November 2026 Newsletter

Welcome to the November edition of the Northgate School Counseling Newsletter! As we head into November, we’re reminded of the importance of slowing down, appreciating the little things, and finding moments of gratitude in our everyday lives. We encourage families to take time to connect, celebrate the positives, and remind our students that even small moments can make a big difference in their well-being. For our seniors, November is an especially important month as the November 30 UC and CSU application deadline approaches and students put the finishing touches on their college applications. This month, we’ll share wellness resources, college application reminders, opportunities to earn college credit, career exploration resources, and upcoming events for students and families. As always, our counseling team is here to support our students every step of the way!
Resources
November is National Gratitude Month!
Practicing gratitude is one of the easiest and most effective ways to boost our mental health, lower stress, and build resilience. This month, the counseling department is challenging all students to find one small thing they are thankful for each day.
Counselor Tip for Families: Try creating a "Gratitude Jar" at the dinner table. Every evening, have each family member write down one positive moment from their day on a slip of paper. Reading them at the end of the month is a great way to bond and focus on the positives!
