Principal's Message

We are having a school-wide safety drill TODAY between 1:00 and 2:00 pm. This drill is in cooperation with our police department and entails a scenario that allows our teachers and students an opportunity to practice our lockdown and/or evacuation drills.

Our 5th Grade Activity Night is coming up on Thursday, February 12th. This year, our student council selected activities different from those in previous years. We need many volunteers to make the night successful! Please sign up and encourage others to do the same. 5TH GRADE ACTIVITY NIGHT SIGN UP.

Our highly anticipated WIS Lip Sync Battle is right around the corner. We need parent volunteers to help make this event run smoothly. Please review the available slots below, then click the button to sign up. Please note: if you volunteer to help on the night of the event, you WILL be able to duck out and watch your child perform. I appreciate your consideration!

LIP SYNC VOLUNTEER SIGNUP

Magic Gives Back comes to WIS on Saturday, February 21st. The event is sold out, but we are looking for volunteers. If you are willing to help, then please click the link to sign up. MAGIC GIVES BACK VOLUNTEERS

OHIO DENTAL OUTREACH AT WIS FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 20TH

Ohio Dental Outreach will be partnering with WIS and will be at WIS on February 20th. The Smiles Program accepts Medicaid, most dental insurance plans, and some donated care. All children who participate receive a report card to take home, and a copy is also left for the school. The Program will see a minimum of 25 kids per visit, with no maximum. If we do not have 25 students interested, Ohio Dental will cancel the clinic. Permission slips are required. Please take a look at the more information below.

ZERO PERIOD WORLD LANGUAGES FOR 7TH/8TH GRADERS

If your student will be a 7th grade student for the 2026-2027 school year, the High School World Language Department has an exciting new opportunity to offer your child. Seventh and Eighth grade students can now take French 1, Latin 1, or Spanish 1 for High School credit. This level one course may be a possibility based on student interest and teacher availability and will occur during a “Zero Period.” The zero period will take place every school day from 6:40 a.m. - 7:24 a.m at Wadsworth High School, and school transportation may be provided.

Students who successfully complete the level 1 course will then be able to continue with level 2 the following year, which would allow for students to take up to 5 years of a language here at Wadsworth before graduation. Students who complete four or five years of High School level language have the opportunity to earn the state of Ohio's Seal of Biliteracy, complete Advanced Placement or College Credit Plus courses, as well as additional World Language elective courses.

For additional information, please check out this website. Also, a parent letter and permission slip will be sent home with students on Friday, February 6th. The permission slip is due Friday, February 20th. Please direct any questions to Andrea Kline, the World Language Department Head, at akline@wadsworthschools.org.

ParentSquare - REGISTER NOW

WIS families are encouraged to download the ParentSquare App. Once downloaded, you can control how you are notified (you can change it not to get an email, not get a text message, get in-app push notifications, and have it be "instant"). If you have any issues or questions about ParentSquare, please get in touch with the tech department at psqhelp@wadsworthschools.org for assistance.

*ParentSquare bought Remind; therefore, we will no longer have Remind after Thanksgiving Break.

Contacting Our Attendance Desk

Our attendance clerk, Mrs. Long, is the primary contact for calling off your student and for any changes to dismissal plans throughout the day. Please call the Attendance Line to reach her and leave a message. The phone number to her desk is 330-335-1481. We recommend you let the attendance desk/teacher know when your student will be absent, leaving early, or arriving late. Just letting us know when your child will be leaving early allows us to be prepared for your arrival. We kindly request that all end-of-day dismissal plans be submitted by 2:45 p.m. Thank you for your cooperation.

**REMINDER- Mr. Cobb must approve all vacations AHEAD OF TIME. Please send him an email requesting excused absences. bcobb@wadsworthschools.org
