The Dawg Dispatch

The Dawg Dispatch is our weekly snapshot of life as a Bulldawg, straight facts, clear wins, and what’s next, so families and staff can pull in the same direction. It reflects our mission:

“The mission of the Aberdeen School District is to inspire ALL students to become problem-solvers, lifelong learners, and productive members of society.”

On Monday, December 1, our 7th grade showed up in a big way, not a single student was absent. That’s the kind of commitment that builds strong habits and strong futures. To celebrate, students were treated to a well-earned popcorn party. Way to go, 7th grade!

Students explored mixtures, solutions, and chemical vs. physical changes through a hands-on experiment. They made predictions, observed reactions, discussed carbon dioxide, and recorded evidence-based explanations using strong scientific vocabulary.

Our Bulldawgs felt like true scientists! Keep exploring, keep questioning, keep learning.

Aberdeen High School cadets and seniors recently visited Mississippi University for Women for a campus tour and college-and-career exploration. Students had the opportunity to learn more about academic programs, student life, and what it takes to plan for life after high school. Thanks to MUW for the warm welcome and to our students for representing AHS so well!

Aberdeen High School’s JROTC cadets recently held their Military Ball at the American Legion in Columbus, MS. The evening was a special opportunity to celebrate cadet accomplishments, leadership, and the traditions of service—complete with pride, professionalism, and plenty of memorable moments. We’re proud of how our cadets represented AHS and their program. #BulldawgPride

Our AHS students are stepping up in a big way, teaching, explaining, and helping one another master math skills. When you practice with purpose, you improve. And when you improve, your grades follow.

It’s simple: practice it right, and you’ll see results. Proud of our students for owning their learning and pushing each other forward.

• Parent of the Year – Mrs. McGee: Thank you for being a true partner, supporting learning at home and strengthening our school community.

• It’s National Handwashing Awareness Week!
  Clean hands help keep our students healthy and ready to learn. Please remind your child to wash their hands for at least 20 seconds—before eating, after using the restroom, and after coughing or sneezing.

  Healthy habits at home = fewer absences and more time learning.

It’s National Influenza Vaccination Week!
Flu season is here, and it’s not too late to get protected. A flu shot helps prevent illness, reduces absences, and keeps our students learning.

Every Wednesday, we encourage students and staff to wear college shirts! Why? Because seeing those college names and logos reminds our students that higher education is possible for them, whether it’s a school close to home or one across the country. It’s a simple way to spark conversations, plant dreams, and keep students motivated toward their future goals. Let’s show them that the road to college starts right here in Bulldawg Country!
