Welcome Greenwich Elementary
Dream It, Believe It, Do It
Welcome Back!
Dear Greenwich Elementary Families,
Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year!
Whether you are returning to Greenwich Elementary or joining our school community for the very first time, I am delighted to welcome you to another exciting year of learning, growth, and opportunity.
To our new families, welcome! We are so glad you are here. Throughout the school year, you will receive this monthly elementary newsletter. It is our primary source for sharing important school news, upcoming events, celebrations, reminders, and information about the wonderful things happening in our classrooms. I encourage you to take a few minutes each month to read through it so you can stay connected with everything happening at Greenwich Elementary.
The beginning of a new school year is always filled with possibility. Fresh starts, new friendships, meaningful learning experiences, and opportunities for growth await each of our students. Our dedicated faculty and staff have been working throughout the summer to prepare welcoming classrooms and engaging learning experiences that will help every child feel safe, supported, challenged, and inspired.
This year, we remain committed to providing a school environment where every student is known, valued, and encouraged to reach their full potential. We know that the strongest schools are built on partnerships, and we are grateful for the trust you place in us each day. By working together—families, students, and staff—we can create an exceptional educational experience for every child.
As we begin this new year, I also want to extend a warm welcome to the newest members of our elementary team. We are excited to have them join the Greenwich family and know they will make a positive impact on our students and school community.
Please join me in welcoming:
- Jessica Bailey- Special Education
- Caleb Noble- Special Education
- Hosanna Davis- Kindergarten
- Amber Mattison- First grade
- Keith LaLone- Second grade
- Jacob Robinson- Fifth grade
Thank you for entrusting us with your children. It is truly a privilege to be part of their educational journey. I look forward to another wonderful year filled with learning, laughter, growth, and many reasons to celebrate.
Here's to a fantastic 2026–2027 school year!
Warmly,
Cheryl Record
Growing Great Character
September Character Trait: Respect
At Greenwich Elementary, we believe that character development is just as important as academics. Each month, we highlight a trait that helps our students grow into kind, responsible, and thoughtful members of our school community.
For September, our focus is Respect. Respect means treating others the way we would like to be treated—through kind words, careful listening, and thoughtful actions. Students will be learning about what respect looks like in the classroom, on the playground, in the cafeteria, and at home.
We encourage families to join us in reinforcing this important value by talking with your child about simple ways to show respect each day:
* Using polite words like please and thank you
* Listening when someone else is speaking
* Taking care of personal and shared spaces
* Valuing differences in others
Together, we can help our students build strong habits of respect that will guide them throughout life.
Important Morning Bell Schedule Update
Welcome back to a wonderful new school year! Please note our updated morning schedule for this year—most importantly, our tardy bell now rings at 8:15 AM, which is 5 minutes earlier than last year.
8:00 AM – Breakfast Entry: MG students participating in breakfast may enter the building.
8:08 AM – General Doors Open: All other students may enter the building and head to their classrooms.
8:15 AM – Tardy Bell: Learning begins! Students arriving after 8:15 AM must walk into the main office for a pass.
Thank you for partnering with us to make every instructional minute count!
Health & Safety
Primary Building Morning Drop-Off (PreK-Grade 2)
If you have a child attending the Primary Building (PreK–Grade 2), please review the following morning arrival procedures. If you are new to Greenwich Elementary, welcome! Our staff will be outside each morning during the first days of school to help guide families through the drop-off process.
Please remember that students should not be dropped off before 8:08 AM, as there is no adult supervision available before that time.
If you are using the Primary Building drop-off circle:
- 🚗 Two lanes of traffic may be used in the circle.
- 🚫 Please do not move the traffic cones.
- 🚙 The circle is a drop-off only zone. Please do not park or leave your vehicle.
- 🚶 If you would like to walk your child to the building, please park in the main parking lot.
- 🚗 If you remain in the drop-off circle, please stay in your vehicle. A staff member will assist your child in exiting the car and entering the building safely.
Thank you for helping us keep our students safe and ensuring that morning arrival is efficient for everyone. We appreciate your partnership and look forward to a great start to the school year!
