Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are truly looking forward to seeing you at school this evening. You can find a copy of the Open House schedule at the end of this letter.
Please make it a point to stop by the PTA table set up at the front entrance. If you have not already joined our Julian Curtiss PTA please seriously consider joining and help GROW our PTA Family here at JC. You are the “P” in the PTA. Julian Curtiss School is a welcoming and safe community and parents have rated us with 92% positivity for school to home connection. We work hard to provide opportunities for you to learn about what your child does at school and how they are performing.
The parents and the PTA help us do our job well! Each parent and teacher being a member of this important association counts. The PTA supports school activities like Parent-Teacher Conferences, open houses, curriculum nights, United Nations Day and more. They hold fundraising activities to benefit the educational, social and cultural programs at our school.
I have been the very proud principal at Julian Curtiss since 2009. This is my fourteenth year serving this community as Principal. I consider myself extremely fortunate to work in a community that I love and cherish, but the truth is that PTA membership has been down the last few years. There are 29 families that have signed up for JC PTA membership this year so far. We have 194 families in our school. That means that 15% of our families are members. Every family counts! Our goal is 100%!! Please help us grow.
Joining the PTA does not mean that you have to volunteer or serve on a committee. It shows support for what we do as a school. There are many opportunities for those who want to get involved such as volunteer work and supporting our students but it is not mandatory to be a member. Those who want to be represented and actively engaged in all relevant decision-making levels in schools have the opportunity to do so through the PTA. There are many school councils and committees that make decisions and help support learning but this is not for everyone. Being a member is for our entire community!
Join the PTA to be informed, build new student programs, connect with other parents or make your voice heard. Join the PTA to show support for All of our students and our wonderful community!

The schedule for Open House is as follows:
6:00 -6:30 p.m.
Pre- K Visits
Grades K- 5
Visits to P.E., Art, Music, Library Learning Commons, World Languages, Reading, Math Interventionist, Special Education K, 1 and 2
Classroom teachers in grades K-5 will not be available until 6:30 pm. Rooms will be closed until that time. Specialists and Essentialists can also be visited during the 6:30-7:00 times below.
