Plano East Band News
April/May 2025
This Spring semester, the Plano East Symphony Orchestra submitted for the opportunity to be invited to perform at this prestigious event. The application consists of submitting two recorded performances alongside numerous recommendation letters from professional references within the music community.
We are THRILLED to announce that the Plano East Symphony Orchestra has been cordially invited to attend and perform at the 79th Midwest Clinic this coming December, 2025!!!
The Wind Ensemble and the Chamber Orchestra will travel to Chicago together to perform an hour-long concert for upwards of 1000 band and orchestra teachers, professionals, and families. Congratulations to the students for the hard work and dedication to make it! More details will be coming very soon.
NOTE: this will NOT impact the band's Spring Trip plans for 2026. We will still be going on our next out-of-state trip with the full Plano East Band.

UIL Concert & Sightreading
Congratulations to the Plano East Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Concert Band for all receiving straight 1st division ratings from all six judges at their UIL Concert & Sightreading concerts! This is the 44th consecutive division 1 rating for the Plano East Wind Ensemble, dating back to the school's opening in 1981. HUGE congratulations to the students and staff, and THANK you to all of the amazing parents and lesson teachers for the amazing support of these awesome students!
Plano East Winter Guard
CONGRATULATIONS to the Plano East Winter Guards on their fantastic season! The varsity "Plano East Gold" placed 13th out of 39 at the NTCA Championship at Coppell and the JV "Plano East Black" placed 5th out of 14 in their group.
Congratulations to our amazing students, guard staff, and Mr. Tyree!!!
Private Lessons
We HIGHLY recommend enrolling in the private lessons program. Our teachers are world-class professional musicians that are skilled in teaching students of all ability levels. Taking weekly 1-on-1 lessons will help you achieve MUCH higher levels of performance than with a band class alone. It is not too late to sign up! A few of our private lessons staff still have some openings at this time, and they would be more than happy to work with your child! Please email us for more information!
Upgrade Your Instrument!
Is your tone quality suffering? Can't access your extended ranges without making a bad sound? Are you ready to excel at the next levels of performance? We have great news for you!!!
Consider purchasing a step-up instrument from any of our local music stores. An upgraded flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, or trombone will allow you to push yourself to that next level of musical performance. You'll be in awe of the ways you will improve!
As with any high quality item, these instruments can get expensive. However, we encourage you to view this as an investment. All the local music stores have very manageable payment plans and frequently run various sales. With the holidays approaching, a new professional-level instrument might just be a great gift that lasts a lifetime!
If you have any questions about how this works, reach out to any of the band directors!
