ARTS & CULTURE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
The PTA is proud to support the art and culture of Dewey School. One way we do that is by decorating the bulletin boards in the front hallway of the school to honor heritage and history months and other special art and culture celebrations throughout the year. We are in need of volunteers to create the following bulletin board displays:
December/January: Winter/Winter Holidays or Lunar New Year
February: Black History Month
April: Arab American History Month or National Poetry Month
May/June: Asian American & Pacific Islander Month or Jewish Heritage Month
If you would like to volunteer and have an idea not listed here, please let us know. Email deweytigerspta@gmail.com or fill out our Volunteer Form to let us know you're interested and we will get you more information.

Attention 5th Graders: Join THE MIX
Calling All 5th Graders – You're Invited to THE MIX (Previously Fortnightly)!
For the first time ever, 5th graders are invited to participate in THE MIX (previously Fortnightly)!
This exciting citywide dance event is designed to help Evanston students meet new friends from across the community before they transition to middle school. With so many students changing schools this year, it's the perfect opportunity to build connections in a fun, safe, and welcoming environment.
Hosted by Women for Evanston Youth (WEY), THE MIX (previously Fortnightly) has been bringing Evanston students together for generations while raising funds that support local youth organizations and scholarships for ETHS students.
Registration is now open and scholarships are available. Reach out to fortnightlyevanston@gmail.com if you want to get involved in planning or take the lead on being your school’s liaison.

Information About Thrive65
Thrive65 (www.wethrive65.org) is an advocacy coalition created to provide accurate information on all things D65. Our core values are:
Equitable educational excellence
Financial responsibility
Valued educators
Over the past year several of us have been advocating to the Board and having countless conversations throughout our community, through which we have learned there are many who share these same priorities for our district. Centering these ideas, Thrive65 aims to provide resources to the community so they can be advocates for what they want to see in our schools.
On our site you will find a guide to Board advocacy, a quick look by the numbers, an explainer of 5 relevant parts of our district's history around structural deficits, facilities, staffing, equity, and more. We also lay out our own thoughts, but try to keep opinions separate from the facts.
Board conversations and decisions move faster than most in the district can track. Sign up on our email list to receive a heads up on what's coming before board meetings, short summaries after meetings, and analysis when something warrants a closer look.
Please check us out at www.wethrive65.org and share with anyone in your community who would like to feel more informed and empowered in these decisions.
Screen Sense Evanston
Screen Sense Evanston is a group of Evanston parents who are concerned about technology and our kids. We focus on raising awareness about Wait Until 8th and Screen Sanity, and pursuing conversations about technology in our schools.
