Paperwork for Parent Volunteers - Get it done early!

Parents, please be reminded that all HSD volunteers are required have a Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check cleared before you are able to work with our students. A number of other forms need to be completed in the office. If you are hoping to support a learning trip, or coach a team, please come in to the office early to complete this paperwork. It can take up to a month for all of the checks to clear. The procedure for completing Criminal Record Checks and Child Abuse Registry Checks can be found at the bottom of this newsletter.

Reminder - It’s Cold Outside!

We have had a very warm and pleasant January, but the weather has turned again and the temperatures look much colder for the next while. Families please remember to send your child with all the winter gear they need to be safe and comfortable outside during outdoor recesses.

As well, please be reminded that students may enter the school building at 8:50 am. Please plan for students to arrive as close to this time as possible, particularly in cold conditions.

See Cold Weather Guidelines below.

Basketball is Under Way!

Our gym is full of the sounds of basketballs bouncing and shoes squeaking! Our basketball practice schedule can be viewed on the MMS calendar found on our website (click here to see it). Parents please be reminded that all practices are closed. If practices are scheduled for later in the evening, and on game nights, our athletes should go home and then come back to the school in time for their practice or game.

Sometimes last minute changes to practice schedules occur - those changes will be communicated in our daily announcements, which can be viewed here.

Thank you to our volunteer coaches for the time and energy they are investing into our students! We appreciate you and are thankful for your commitment.

Good luck to all of our athletes as they compete this season. Go Warriors!

Volunteer Procedure for 2022-2023

MMS is looking forward to welcoming volunteers back into the school this year. If you hope to support the school this year by volunteering your time, please take note of the following expectations for school based volunteers, that have been established by Hanover School Division.

Volunteers who currently have an approved Child Abuse Check in our database, only need to apply for the Criminal Records Check to complete their permissions. Once the Criminal Records Check has been completed and submitted to the school, the volunteer can proceed to volunteer. Volunteers who have a valid Criminal Record Check on file with HSD will still be required to sign an Annual Declaration that confirms the Criminal Record Check on file remains accurate. Contact the school office to sign the Annual Declaration.

All new volunteers must complete a CRC and a CAC.

The process to complete the Criminal Records Check for school start-up September 2022.

  1. Parents email the RCMP - carole.robidoux@rcmp-grc.gc.ca
  2. Parents contact school for letter (print off power school) waving the fee

The Child Abuse Registry Check can be completed in the school office.
