Cool Creek Sneak Peak

Hello, and I hope you are enjoying your summer!

The building is really starting to come together, and it is looking amazing! The construction crews have accomplished a tremendous amount of work in a very short period of time, and it has been incredible to watch. Everything remains on schedule to be ready for the first day of school. If you've driven by recently, you've probably noticed the progress on the playground. By the end of this week, crews will begin installing the poured-in-place safety surface (the soft, spongy surface under the playground equipment) and the turf field. The same exciting progress is happening inside the building, and I can't wait for you to see it.

Tonight is our first Sneak Peek, and we are excited to welcome families into the building! Tonight and Thursday from 5:00-7:00 p.m., families are invited to walk through the building, explore our newly renovated spaces, and get a feel for the layout before the school year begins.

To help limit the number of people in the building at one time, we are asking families to attend based on the first letter of their last name:

• Tuesday, August 4 (5:00-7:00 p.m.) - Last names A-L

• Thursday, August 6 (5:00-7:00 p.m.) - Last names M-Z

If your assigned evening doesn't work for your family, please feel free to attend the other night. Please note that the parking lot on the south side of the building will not be completed until the end of next week. Families are welcome to park at the tennis courts, the middle school, or in the Riverview parking lot.

As you walk through the building, please keep in mind that many areas are still receiving their final touches. The flooring crew is finishing the hallways and expects to complete that work next week. While you'll be able to walk throughout the building, you may notice some areas that are still bare concrete. Don't worry, there is plenty of finished flooring throughout the building, so you'll be able to see what the completed spaces will look like.

The classrooms are also very close to being finished, with cabinet installation scheduled to wrap up by Friday. To protect the new floors, the cabinet crews have placed temporary coverings in the hallways while they move materials into the classrooms. You may also see construction materials due to crews making final adjustments and touch-ups throughout the building.

For everyone's safety, the classrooms will not be open during the Sneak Peek events. Since the rooms are not yet set up and the cabinets are still being installed and secured to the walls, we want to keep those areas closed while the work is being completed. You will, however, be able to look through the classroom windows to get a feel for what the learning spaces will look like. We know you're excited to see the classrooms, and we can't wait to welcome everyone inside during our Open House.

I share all of this because I don't want anyone to think that what you see this week is how the building will look when school starts. We have been working closely with our construction partners, and together we have a solid plan to have everything completed and ready for our Back-to-School Open House on August 12. Families will be able to view their child's class placement beginning Friday, August 7, when PowerSchool opens.
