If you want your student to keep their mLISD device over the summer, please click HERE to sign-up and pay the 2022-2023 mLISD fee by May 20th.

A Message from the Nurse

Dear Parents/Guardians:

All medication and diabetic supplies that have been left in the clinic for your student, need to be picked up no later than May 26, 2022. Only students who have permission to self-carry their emergency medications, will be allowed to bring their medication home. All other students will not be able to pick up medications under any circumstances. They must be picked up by a parent or guardian. The district does not allow medication to be stored in the clinic over the summer so all medications not picked up by 12:00 pm on May 26, 2022, will be disposed of properly.

If you need a copy of your student’s immunization record for summer camps, please email student.records@leanderisd.org.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. Have a great summer.

Summer Camps at CRMS & VHS

Leander ISD has started releasing Summer Camps for this summer and we will be hosting some here at Canyon Ridge Middle School and at most campuses across the district.

All camp registrations will be conducted online to ensure adequate staffing for camps, as well as your child’s place in the camp. Please register carefully as NO REFUNDS will be issued. CREDIT CARD PAYMENT IS REQUIRED AT TIME OF REGISTRATION. A small convenience fee will be applied.

Please note: Per UIL rules, students may only attend two camps for each team sport in which a 7th-12th grade coach from their school district attendance zone works with them. Students in grades 7-12 are allowed to attend a team sport camp (two per team sport) and Strength and Conditioning camp in their attendance zone.

LISD Young Writers Camp - Summer 2022

The Virtual Young Writers Camp is open to any LISD incoming 6th-12th grader of all interest and ability levels. Students will receive multiple writing strategies and experiences in both synchronous and asynchronous environments. Students will follow the writing process from generating ideas, collecting around topics, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing. Additionally, they will explore characteristics of different genres of writing (short fiction, poetry, informational, multimodal/multimedia, essay, and many others) before selecting one genre to "deep dive" into. In other words, it's a bit of a choose-your-own-adventure! Students will receive a combination of direct instruction, self-paced tasks, small group instruction, and one-on-one conferring opportunities.

State Required Immunizations for Incoming 7th Grade Students

Dear Parents/Guardians,

In order to be compliant under Texas Administrative Code regarding immunizations, an updated immunization record is required for your incoming 7th grade child. The updated immunization record must include the required Tdap booster and 1 quadrivalent Meningococcal vaccine. To avoid exclusion, your child’s campus nurse must receive the updated record prior to the first day of school. You may bring in a hard copy (making it to the attention of Rachael Kristoff) or if you prefer, you may email it to rachael.kristoff@leanderisd.org. The school does not automatically receive updated immunization records from any physician offices or clinics. Please visit the Texas Department of State Health Services website to view a full list of K-12 immunization requirements.

If you are unsure whether your child has received these required immunizations, please contact your physician. You may request a copy of your child’s immunization records from the school by emailing student.records@leanderisd.org.

We hope this early communication prevents missed instructional days in your child’s upcoming 7th grade school year. Please contact the campus nurse where your child will be attending 7th grade should you have any questions regarding state required immunizations.

Respectfully,

Rachael Kristoff

Bus Route Information

Beginning Aug. 5, Leander ISD parents can enter their home address into Infofinder to look up their child’s bus route number, pick-up/drop-off times, and bus stop locations for the 2021-22 school year. Bus routes are subject to change, so LISD parents are strongly encouraged to confirm their child’s bus information again the week prior to the start of school.

The Transportation Department will continue to use the Remind platform to communicate delay notifications and other important updates. Bus riders and their guardians will be added to a Remind “class” for their assigned bus route.

Communication is Critical

Our schools and teachers use Remind to send text messages and emails to our parents. Make sure you log into Remind to set up your notification preferences, see archived messages, and send messages directly to your teachers and school staff. Download the mobile app (Google Play, Apple) for the best user experience.
