November 2025 Communication
Message From Our Principal
I just wanted to start off by thanking our parents for raising great kids! As I walk through the classrooms, teach and supervise students at recess, I am always impressed by how well behaved the students are at Round Hill School! We have a student recognition program that describes the character traits we expect the students to exhibit. The acronym for this program is R.E.A.L. Every day I witness our students displaying these character traits, traits that are not only expected of them in school, but in life outside of school as well.
What does R.E.A.L stand for? RESPECT for themselves, others and the property of others. Students are also asked to put their best EFFORT into whatever it is they are doing. Thirdly, students should always try to have a positive ATTITUDE, whether they are playing on a team, working in class, out at recess, or at home. And, finally, we want them to be a LEADER. Leadership encompasses the first three character traits but it has meaning on its own - make those around you better, make good decisions, offer to help, have integrity, show empathy, and support others.
I see this daily from so many of our students. It is encouraging to know that, as a school community, we are raising “Character Kids”! We honour a student from each classroom once a month (at our R.E.A.L Assembly) with a certificate explaining how they have “been REAL” and a small token of our appreciation. Our next R.E.A.L assembly is on December 3, everyone is welcome to join us in this celebration. As well, the next time you are in the school, walk over to the bulletin board across from the office to read about our most recent award recipients!
