Flu season is upon us and there are lots of germs and sniffles in our classrooms. We would greatly appreciate any donations of tissues and hand sanitizer. Thanks in advance.

Welcome back!
This week students will receive Q3 stems to work on and complete by Friday. We will also be going back to DOL (Daily Oral Language) as we continue to work towards correct grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure. Do you remember what modifiers are? We will be working on that this week! (DOL quiz on Friday)
This week we will read Icarus and Daedalus, a Greek short story, that teaches a very important lesson about hubris.
Please talk to your student about the importance of submitting THEIR OWN ORIGINAL WORK. Sadly, some students used AI to write their Informative Final writing and this is a form of cheating; which will be handled appropriately. It disappoints me that these students think that their voice, their opinions, and their thoughts aren't worthy, and they feel that a computer should speak for them. Please have a conversation with your child about how cheating and/or plagiarism can cause more trouble than they realize.
Mon- Teacher Work Day
Tues- Intro to Europe
Wed- Europe Vocab
Thur- History Timeline
Fri- Vocab Quiz
This week in science, Quarter 2 grades were finalized today (Monday), and students will begin the Unit 3 study guide on Tuesday. They will finish and review the study guide on Wednesday, play a review game on Thursday, and take the Unit 3 DFA on Friday. We will review one more time on Monday before taking the Unit 3 test on Tuesday.
Grades were finalized today, and the majority of students did extremely well.
For students who earned a lower grade, the primary issue was incomplete or missing assignments. As we begin this new quarter, please help remind your child of the importance of completing all assigned work—especially after absences—to ensure their continued success.
Thank you for your continued support.

Homework
We do not have homework per se but in the event notes and classwork are not completed during class, they should be completed at home and turned in the next day.
Calendar
As a reminder, a two-week instructional agenda is posted in my classroom, and the math calendar outlining lessons for the month is available in Schoology. I hope these resources provide clarity and assist you in supporting your student’s progress at home.
IXL assignments are now listed in Schoology per Unit. These IXLs help students practice topics covered in class. Students must achieve a score of 80% or higher. They will then log their score, and a spreadsheet will average the grades.
Teacher Shout-Outs
Do you have a teacher who has made a difference or who you’d like to recognize? We’d love to hear from you! Please complete the Google form to let our teachers know just how awesome they are. Your kind words mean a lot!

Support Ideas & Links

Find a quiet space in the house away from distractions.
Have your student “teach” what was learned in class to you.
Encourage your child to email their teacher about missing assignments or questions about work (this helps with responsibility).
