Welcome Back!

Dear Families,

Wow, that was some heat this week! I bring this up because you could definitely tell a difference in how the students were acting last week when it was cooler, compared to this week when it felt like we were on the face of the sun!

Isn't it amazing how the weather can change our mood and behavior? Even when we just think about the weather it can change our mood; you know snow is coming in a couple months right? See, some of you just got that feeling even reading the word "snow" :)

Why do we do this? Why do we let things out of our control determine our mood? I suppose that is a part of being human. Even so, I feel that we need to always try and improve each day, and one thing we all could improve on, is worrying about what we CAN control and letting the rest go. I know this is something I will forever be working on.

Some of my top highlights were:

- Watching preschoolers come to school for the very first time ever

- Playing with kids at recess

- Getting feedback from staff on how to improve certain systems around the school

- Receiving hugs and high-fives from students

- Learning student names :)

I cannot wait to see what fantastic things this month will bring! Please share any highlights, positives, or concerns with us as they arise.

I hope the weekend has a good you!

Mr. Kirk Ryan

Principal

I am thrilled to be joining the team at West Liberty Early Learning Center and Elementary! Over the past few weeks, I have been deeply impressed by our students and the positive energy they bring to school every day. Watching how seamlessly and mindfully they move throughout the building has been a real highlight. They truly model our core values by consistently choosing to Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Kind.

Building strong connections with our families is very important to me. Please do not hesitate to reach out via phone or email if you ever have any questions, ideas, or concerns. I look forward to working together to make this a wonderful school year!

Help to Prepare for School

A new school year can be a big transition for students. While we know that we are two weeks into the school year, we wanted to give you a few tips to help your child(ren) prepare for the new year ahead:

1. Have a routine for going to bed and for getting ready in the morning, and as consistent as possible with those routines. Just like adults, our kids LOVE and NEED routines (even if they say they don't)

2. Talk to your child about their feelings about the school, friends, teacher and new activities

3. Set goals with your child about the new school year

As always, if there is any support we can provide you with please do not hesitate to reach out!

Student Drop Off Student Drop Off

Please use the bus lane when dropping off in the morning or picking up in the car lane after school. This allows other individuals who are leaving the parking lot the opportunity to do so. We would also ask that students exit from the right side of the car so they are not getting out into traffic. We encourage parents to stay in their vehicles.

Picking Your Student Up Early

Please make sure you are calling the office prior to 12:00pm if you want a message being delivered to your student/s at the end of the day. Also, if you are picking your student/s up early, please give us at least a 20 minute heads up so we can have your student/s ready for you.

Football Game Expectations

Our students did a great job at our first home game! This is just a friendly reminder. Above you will see a picture of where students can play during home games. It is on the southside of the stadium, and this is the ONLY place where students will be allowed to play. Footballs ARE allowed in the stadium, but the must be played with in the designated areas below. Please reach out to Adam Loria with any questions.
