Hello, Fremont Families!

Coming together this week at Curriculum Night was truly uplifting. Together, your engagement drives our mission to foster a thriving learning community through meaningful collaboration. We look forward to partnering throughout the year.

Here is a review of the big ideas I shared for additional focus this year:

  • Literacy Pilot Launch
We’re excited to begin a literacy pilot exploring two new resources to support students’ reading growth.

  • Attendance Matters
Missing school means missing critical learning. Your support in ensuring your child attends every day is invaluable.

  • School Technology & Screen Time
We're reviewing how school devices are used and monitoring screen time to ensure technology is purposefully used to enhance learning.

  • Behavior and Social Emotional Learning
Our staff will be learning about a social emotional learning program out of Yale University called RULER. We will all be learning how to recognize and understand our emotions.

Enjoy your weekend, and thanks again for being part of our learning community!

Sincerely,

Beth Carmody

Principal

Mass Notification Test Follow-up Mass Notification Test Follow-up

On Thursday, August 28, the District performed an annual test of its mass notification system. If you did not receive an email, text message, or automated phone call notification, please complete this form. Please confirm your preferred email address and phone number are current in TeacherEase. If you need to update your contact information, please contact the school.

Assessments Assessments

Three times a year we assess our students to see where they are on their personal learning path. We look for what supports or enrichments they may need. We will be continuing our use of the NWEA Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) test for all students. This is an untimed, computer based test that individually adjusts as a student answers the questions. As they answer correctly, the questions get harder. This testing will begin Monday, September 8.

This year, our District will assess reading skills for students in grades 1-5. We will be using a one-minute oral reading fluency (ORF) test, administered three times a year. Oral reading fluency evaluates how well a student reads aloud with accuracy, speed, and expression. This measure is a key indicator of reading proficiency and is closely tied to overall reading comprehension and academic success. The ORF test will help us more precisely identify students who may need additional support, customize instruction to meet individual needs, and track progress over time. In the winter, we will also introduce a similar screening for Kindergarten, focusing on early literacy skills. These will be administered in an individual setting. This testing will begin Tuesday, September 2.

Attendance Awareness Month: Start Strong! Attendance Awareness Month: Start Strong!

Welcome back, Wildcats! September is Attendance Awareness Month, and there’s no better time to start strong. Showing up each day helps students build routines, connect with classmates, and stay on track with learning. Let’s work together—families and school—to make attendance a priority from the very beginning. And as always, if your child is experiencing vomiting, diarrhea, or a fever, please keep them home until they’ve been symptom-free (without medication) for 24 hours.
