Dear Caldwell ISD Community,

Earlier this month, our Board of Trustees approved an unprecedented number of scholarships for college and technical institutions from the Kovar Scholarship Fund. For the Class of 2026, Caldwell ISD will award $232,500 to graduating seniors this year,

This incredible commitment reflects our Board’s belief in giving back and supporting our students well beyond graduation. We are proud to continue creating opportunities that help our Hornets succeed long after they leave our halls.

As we head into a busy spring season filled with competitions, performances, field trips, and special events, we are reminded how fortunate we are to be part of such an active and supportive community. With Spring Break just one week away, we look forward to finishing strong and celebrating all the accomplishments still to come.

Sincerely,

Dr. James Barton

Superintendent, Caldwell ISD

Consider and Approve PK4, Child Care & After School Care Rates:

Mrs. Escalante requested the approval of the pre-kindergarten, daycare, and after-school rates, which can be viewed HERE. The state no longer allows the flexibility to offer tuition-based Prekindergarten, but teachers' children now automatically qualify for the program. The Board of Trustees unanimously approved the 2026-2027 rates as presented.

Consider and Approve Application for House Bill (HB2) New Teacher Certification Requirements:

House Bill 2 requires that by the 2026–2027 school year, all teachers in grades K–5 be certified in their specific teaching assignment. By 2027–2028, teachers of foundational subjects (ELAR, Math, Science, and Social Studies) must also hold certification aligned to their assigned subject area. The Board unanimously approved applying for a delay of implementation until 2029–2030 to provide flexibility in the event of unforeseen staffing circumstances. At this time, all PK–5 teachers in Caldwell ISD are fully certified.
