Notification to Parents: Screening and Referral Process for Gifted Students Notification to Parents: Screening and Referral Process for Gifted Students

The consideration for gifted services may be reported or automatic as defined by the GaDOE Resource Manual for Gifted Education Services. The Fulton County School System screens all students for eligibility for gifted services twice a year and uses a systematic approach to identify highly capable students who may qualify for gifted services. The gifted teacher routinely reviews available data to refer students for further assessment. Students meeting either the automatic screening OR the classroom screening criteria AND who have supporting data gathered from test history, products, and/or advanced content levels are referred for additional testing to determine gifted eligibility.

PTO Directory PTO Directory

I've heard your feedback about wanting a way to connect with other parents for birthday parties, playdates, and other events. While LWE employees cannot share family contact information due to FERPA privacy protections, we have a new option this year.

At Sneak Peek, families will have the opportunity to opt in and provide an email address they'd like included in a parent directory. Access to the directory will be available to families who join the PTO at the Bronze level or above. PTO will distribute this directory to members this fall.

Participation is completely voluntary, and only information provided through the opt-in process will be shared.

Kid Chess has been one of Atlanta’s most popular after-school enrichment programs since 1998. The program meets at Lake Windward every Wednesday and provides instruction for students of all skill levels, from true beginners to advanced players. To ensure high-quality, level-appropriate instruction, Kid Chess sends multiple coaches to each session, maintaining a uniquely low student-to-teacher ratio.

New this year: Lake Windward is adding a second hour of Kid Chess, and kindergarten students are now invited to enroll in the second-hour session!
