JINGLE MOO AND CTE

Recently, I came across a video on the internet called "Jingle Moo." I played it for my kids and guess what? They loved it! I mean, LOVED it! We have probably watched the video 100 times. I hear the song playing throughout the day in my head, my children are now singing the song, and I can see visions of the dancing cow in my head. While annoying at first, I later began thinking about how powerful the video actually is. If it can become embedded in my head, and the heads of my children, so quickly, that is powerful. My hope heading into 2020 is that CTE becomes the "Jingle Moo" of education. Hopefully, the power of CTE will become ingrained in the minds of teachers, administrators, students, parents, and stakeholders. Instead of visions of dancing cows, the hope is that everyone will have visions of the futures that they can have with CTE. Instead of singing the song, the hope is that everyone will be singing from the hilltops the stories of student successes achieved through CTE. The hope for 2020 is also that you will find ways to make some more MOO-lah for your students and programs through weighted funding, IBC reimbursement allocations, and using CTE to create CCMR Outcome Bonuses. We have a lot to be excited about heading into the new year and we thank you for allowing us to be a part of your lives, your programs, and all of the powerful things you are doing for students. Please remember that Region 10 will be closed from December 20th through January 5th, but we will return January 6th with our figurative bells on. Happy holidays and Cheers to a wonderful 2020 to come!

Do You Teach Computer Science?

GameSalad - Complimentary coding activity for CS Ed Week!

Teachers all over the world will be looking for coding activities to give their students a taste of computer science for CS Education Week.

To celebrate, GameSalad is making their first tutorial “Wizard Run” available for free! Wizard Run introduces students to editing a game by adding logic to the game.

Participating instructors will be able to share the Wizard Run AND the open-ended game building in the GameSalad platform with all their students for the month of December.

Students can easily complete the tutorial with a little free time in class each day. The activity would also work well in an after school/ lunchtime lab. Or just let your students know the tutorial is available to them to work on at home. Here is a chance to give extra credit or just let students enjoy the game creation experience.

Sign up at https://gamesalad.com/education/csedweek2019/ and we’ll reach out with details.

Time to empower your students to create the future!

Happy Creating!

Please note, by simply signing up this week at the above link. the instructor will have access to the lesson for 1 month.
