The Northeast News

Everywhere you look, Raider Nation was giving thanks. We celebrated our amazing custodians and cafeteria workers with Thanksgiving gift bags (Thank you Ms. Hill). We celebrated our honor roll and perfect attendance students at the "Stand up for Northeast" event (great job, Ms. Cuevas). We did some turkey bowling and gave away those turkeys to our winners. We also had many areas all over the school where students, staff, and families were able to share or post what they were grateful for. We are all thankful to be part of such an awesome community!

Northeast Entrepreneurship students on 6 teams participated in Junior Achievement's Entrepreneurship Summit Competition. This is an area-wide competition with over 30 teams.

Two solo Northeast teams earned an Honorable Mention with 2nd placement in their categories! Please congratulate Amaya M. (Peaceful Package) and Vanessa D. (Translation Services) for their outstanding pitches and business ideas.

Please also congratulate the other Northeast Entrepreneurship teams for their excellent presentations and business ideas. You will see all of them at next semester's Market Days selling their goods!

Ms. Warner's students use the walls to create anchors of support that they will use for their argumentative essays.

Ms. Mack's Class built (and exploded) a few volcanoes as they studied the layers of the earth.

After lots of community service, the National Honor Society took the time to decorate and enjoy a well-deserved treat- holiday cookies!

Looking for fun holiday reads or something funny? Try out ComicsPlus! Comics Plus is in the Portal. Simply type Comics Plus in the search bar. There are numerous categories of books including History and Spanish language. Try it today! Questions? Come see Lady Brady.

The Student Council (and Mr. Torres) did a great job of decorating the Northeast tree for all of us to enjoy this holiday season. We hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday season.

Albert T., the Raider Freshman Trumpet player, achieved 1st Chair in the 5A region Band! The 5A Wind Ensemble concert was this Saturday at the Austin ISD Performing Arts Center and he did an amazing job! We are so proud of Albert's Achievements.

19 Soul Raiders traveled to Smithville, TX and competed in the Region Band Auditions. 7 Soul Raiders achieved placement in ATSSB Region Bands and we have 1 Alternate. This is the most the band has ever had!
Angel M. - 10th Chair 4A Flute out of 40 - 10th Chair Symphonic Band
Maria G. - 15th Chair 4A Flute out of 40- 6th Chair Concert Band
Carlos P. - 20th Chair 4A Flute out of 40- 2nd Alternate
Daniel M. - 7th chair Bass Clarinet out of 10- 2nd Chair Concert Band
Tarrel T. - 6th Chair 4A Alto Sax out of 25- 2nd Chair Concert Band
Jamie A. - 4th Chair 4A Tuba out of 21- 2nd Chair Symphonic Band
Jared C. - 7th Chair 4A Tuba out of 21- 6th Chair Symphonic Band
KaRon G. - 10th Chair 4A Tuba out of 21- 3rd Chair Concert Band
Congratulations for this great accomplishment

Both the band and orchestra put on amazing performances that got everyone into the spirit of the holidays. Thank you to our directors and all the outstanding performers.

A group of art students from Ms. Ximena and Ms. Russel's class (with Lady Brady) had the opportunity to explore the Blanton Museum. They left feeling inspired. Maybe we will see some of our students' work in a gallery in the near future.

The Northeast Dance Department had a fall showcase this past week with performances from the Northeast dance classes, Nightline Dance Team, Northeast Cheerleaders, Marshall Middle School Dance Team, and the debut of the newest members of the Nightline Dance team! What an entertaining night! Great job Mr. Defreeze and all the performers.

A banquet was held last week to celebrate all the accomplishments and great sportsmanship of the fall sports teams. We are thankful for all the coaches and coordinator Mustafa for putting this together for our athletes.

If you missed the boys' basketball team beating Navarro or the soccer team beating Taylor High School, there's still opportunities to see some great sports' action on the court with boys' and girls' basketball or on the field with the start of boys' soccer. Let's go, Raiders!

Hello Families,

I wanted to take this opportunity to say goodbye, as I will be starting in a new district in January. I have loved working here at Northeast with this amazing leadership team and staff and your children, so I am sad to leave.

Although I have not been at Northeast Early College High School very long, I have been a part of the Northeast Vertical Team for 12 years, and it has been a pleasure to work with so many of you in this amazing community.

I have had the great opportunity to see many of your children grow from little 6th graders to Northeast students to graduates, who are now in college or working in their professions. This has been an honor. Thank you for all of your support over these years, and I wish you and your children all the best. It's always a great day to be a Raider!

Love, Mr. Coyle

We welcome all parents, guardians, staff, and community members to attend the monthly CAC meetings. This is an opportunity to hear about the great things happening at Northeast, as well as, to come together to discuss any areas of growth or support needed.

Austin Voices held their Holiday Luncheon at Northeast this week. It was a great event filled with amazing community partners, who are here to support our school and the community.
