Kia ora e te whānau, Kia ora e te whānau,

It’s been a great start to the term, and it’s lovely to see our learners settling back into routines with energy and enthusiasm.

A warm reminder that Grandparents Day is this Sunday, beginning with Mass at 10:30am at St Teresa’s Church, followed by activities and morning tea at school. We look forward to welcoming our beloved grandparents and special elders for this treasured event.

We also hold in prayer our students who are preparing to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation—may this be a time of reflection, healing, and grace in their faith journey.

If you missed out on a Whānau Learning Conversation, please get in touch with your child’s teacher—we’d love to connect and share how your child is progressing.

And finally, nominations are now open for our School Board Elections. We encourage you to consider putting yourself forward or nominating someone who can contribute positively to the strategic leadership of our kura.

Ngā mihi nui,
Lindsey Dailly
Principal

Football Football

On Wednesday St Teresa’s hosted all the schools in our South Wairarapa sport group in a football tournament. It was a wonderful day, although a very cold start! All three of the St Teresa’s teams played well with lots of determination and excellent sportsmanship. A huge thank you to Koran, Leah, Jocelyn, Russel and Jess who were our amazing parent helpers on the day. Another special thank you to Nim and the Featherston Junior Football Club for all of their support on the day, and for providing all of the yummy food.

Battle of the Books Battle of the Books

Monday evening saw the debut of the Featherston Cluster's Battle of the Books, held at Kahutara School. This event involved three of our Year 7 & 8 students, who battled against students from South Featherston and Kahutara schools to answer questions about four books that they had been reading over the last term. Our team worked collaboratively, answering questions about the characters, themes and text features.

Congratulations Emily-Jane, Lockie and Chris for winning first place, and taking home a big block of chocolate each.

The NED Resilience Ride The NED Resilience Ride

On Tuesday 15th July, Sean and Ned, visited us from Australia to give us an exciting and thrilling talk about resilience. They taught us to Never give up, Encourage others and Do your best. If you fall, get back up and keep on trying. Sean told NED's story with impressive yoyo tricks and flips, and wowed us all!

The students have been practising these important messages around the school with their NED yoyos.

School Board Elections – Call for Nominations

In Term 3, we will be holding our School Board Elections. We are now calling for nominations – either for yourself or someone you know – at 12pm **Wednesday 6th August 2025**.

Joining the School Board is a meaningful way to contribute to the strategic direction and ongoing success of our kura. It’s a chance to help shape the future of St Teresa’s, supporting our vision of Developing confident, compassionate lifelong learners who embrace Catholic faith.

Board members attend monthly meetings and play a vital role in governance – helping guide decisions that impact our students, staff, and wider school community. It’s important work, and incredibly rewarding.

Our school has achieved so much under the leadership of our current Board – from strengthened learning outcomes and increased roll numbers, to major building improvements and enhanced community engagement. We’re keen to continue this positive momentum and are looking for people who can offer their time, skills, and perspectives to reflect the diverse makeup of our school whānau.

If you’re passionate about education, community, and making a difference, we encourage you to consider stepping forward. Nomination can be submitted to Zoe at the school office. For more information please reach out to Zoe or Lindsey.
