On Friday, students learned about our first Wolfpack POWER trait - PRIDE. Students learned how to show pride in their classwork, behavior, school, and country! Each student who wears a school pride gear (Wolfpack, South Crawford, or orange/brown) on Monday will receive a POWER Buck. POWER Bucks can be collected and spent on special treats during Friday recesses and at the POWER Buck Store each month.

School Pictures will be taken Tuesday morning in the gym. Order forms have already been sent home. Please send orders with your student by Tuesday.

Students will participate in two safety programs this week!

Bike Safe IN - Tuesday afternoon students will learn about bicycle safety through a partnership with INDOT.

ATV Safety with Safety Sam - Friday students will learn about ATV safety through a partnership with IN Conservation Officer Dennis Talley and SRO Kyle Wiseman.

Safety Sam is the first ATV safety robot. We welcomed him to IN in March of 2017. Safety Sam is the size of a 9 year old child, dressed in full ATV safety gear (helmet, gloves, pants, long sleeve shirt, goggles, boots, etc.). Safety Sam is an interactive, engaging robot that is used to educate kids, families, and communities about ATV safety. The ATV lights up, Safety Sam has LED lights, moves his head, can speak to his audiences, and he can answer questions from the audience.

Our first fire drill will take place this week. The teachers have been practicing safety drills with our students. We regularly practice fire, tornado, lockdown, and earthquake drills.

Please be sure to send a note with your child every day the first week or so to ensure that he/she gets on the correct bus to home, the BGC bus, or the car rider line! Please keep the routine consistent for the first two weeks so that we can all adjust to the new school year. If you must make a change, please call the office prior to 2:00 pm to ensure that we have time to make the proper changes.

Water bottles are optional this school year because water fountains are back in service.

There is a bottle filling station in the primary (K-2nd Grade) hallway.

This is a reminder that water bottles are for WATER only. Students should not bring juice, gatorade, tea, Kool-Aid, soft drinks, etc. in water bottles. ALSO, students should not bring soft drinks in their lunch from home.

The weather is now warmer. Please remember that our building can be cool when the air conditioning is running, so your student may still need a jacket. Students may wear sleeveless shirts and shorts, but spaghetti straps and short shorts are not allowed. Safety is always our priority and sneakers provide the best protection for your child's feet. Building lasting relationships!

South Crawford Elementary is excited to announce a new school-wide initiative that will help us build supports, create a sense of belonging, and increase school pride. SCES will be following the school within a school model of creating school “families” with cross age peer groups. Our school will have eight “dens” where about 20 kids will be paired with a few adults from throughout the building. The dens will meet regularly and have a short activity to build connections and learn about our school-wide character curriculum. You can see evidence of den activities in our hallways. Please ask your child about his/her den and den activities throughout the year!

HELP NEEDED: Donations are needed for the Fall Festival Silent Auction. We are currently asking for your help to collect donations for the South Crawford Elementary PTO Fall Festival. Please contact your child's teacher if you have a donation from a business or individual.

Students will learn the behavior expectations and the importance of being the best they can be throughout the school year. Students will earn POWERBucks for showing their best behavior!
