🍂 Welcome to the October Monthly Mention!

October is here, and there is a lot happening at WLES! Our Lifeskill of the Month is Honesty, which we define as “being truthful in what you say and do.” Throughout the month, we will encourage students to think about how honesty helps us build trust, take responsibility, and strengthen our school community.

Parent-Teacher Conferences are also coming up! Teachers will be reaching out soon to schedule meetings with families. Please watch for these communications and respond promptly, as our teachers volunteer their time to make these important connections and work together with you as a team to support your child.

We have also welcomed many new students and families to WLES over the past few weeks. We are so glad to have them joining our school community!

As you read through this month’s newsletter, be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom. There are many upcoming events and important dates you won’t want to miss. The Monthly Mention also includes ongoing links to helpful resources, including our Student Handbook and arrival and dismissal procedures.

Remember, the Monthly Mention link is always live, so you can return to it throughout the month for the most current information. You can also find the newsletter anytime on our school website.

Thank you for staying connected and partnering with us. We are looking forward to a wonderful October at WLES!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Sara Delaney

Principal

A Note From the Nurses

Please pack a spare set of clothing in each child's backpack. They get used all the time at every grade level. Spilled lunches, nosebleeds, muddy playgrounds, and the occasional restroom accident make it important for your child to have a replacement set of clothing. Now is a good time to swap summer outfits for cold-weather clothes.

Counselor's Corner

This month’s focus is Honesty. One way to think about honesty is “being truthful in what you say and do.” Practicing honesty helps strengthen our relationships and even reduces stress. Students will be learning about the emotions that come from being honest, like feeling proud, and the emotions that come from being dishonest, like fear and worry. We will discuss the importance of being honest and doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.

Sincerely,

Sasha Jones, MSEd, AEN
