The Tiger Times
The Promise Career Institute Community Newsletter
September 9, 2025
Hello PCI Families,
Can you believe we’re already at the 4.5-week mark? Time is flying, and it’s the perfect moment to check in on student progress. We encourage families to log into the grade portal, review current grades, and have meaningful conversations about assignments, goals, and any support your student may need.
A quick reminder: Future Friday is a mandatory school day, and attendance is taken. These Fridays are designed to support student success through enrichment, academic support, and career readiness activities—so every moment matters!
September is Attendance Awareness Month, and we want to emphasize that attendance is critical every single day. Being present—physically and mentally—sets the foundation for academic success and future opportunities.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Together, we’re building a strong foundation for every student’s future.
Warmly,
Yalanda M. Bell

Despite being a leading cause of death, suicide it is preventable. During this month, our school will be drawing attention to the problem of suicide and advocating the prevention of this tragedy. We encourage our students and families to participate in Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. We will be sharing resources and activities throughout September to bring awareness to suicide prevention. The awareness generated this month has the potential to have an enormous impact on our school community, even the chance to save a life. Thank you for supporting this initiative and continuing the conversation at home with your students.

Student ID Safety Reminder for PCI Students
To support a safe and secure learning environment, all students enrolled in The Promise Career Institute (PCI) are required to wear their student ID badge on a lanyard at all times while on any Fulton County Schools (FCS) campus. This includes time spent at their zoned high schools for transportation.
📅 ID Badges Are Being Distributed This Week
PCI staff are currently distributing ID badges to all students. Parents, once your child receives their badge, please ensure they wear it every morning before leaving for school. This is essential for student safety and identification.
🔍 Why It Matters
Wearing student IDs helps staff quickly identify PCI students and maintain a secure environment. Administrators will conduct random ID checks and enforce consequences for non-compliance, as outlined in Rule 7aI of the Discipline Code.
💳 Lost ID?
Here's What to Do: First replacement: $5 Additional replacements: $10 each Payments can be made online via the Online School Payment (OSP) site.
👨👩👧 Your Support Is Key!
Please help us by reminding your child to wear their ID daily. Together, we can ensure PCI remains a safe and welcoming place for all students. Thank you for your continued partnership!

Congratulations Tiger Readers!
Our school is one of the top reading institutions in Fulton County! We recently earned the Beanstack Igniter Badge which recognizes more than 25% of our students are actively tracking their reading on Beanstack.
We also logged 11, 790 reading minutes during the month of August! Way to go Tigers!
Join the September Beanstack Challenge!
Students can participate in the Fall into Reading Challenge (via Classlink) to track their reading and earn prizes all month long. Parents, ask your scholar to show you their reading badges and log!
Your Voice Matters! (Parent/Guardian Only Survey)
Help us keep our schools safe and welcoming for every student. Please take a few minutes to complete our School Safety Survey. Your feedback helps us improve safety measures and create a better learning environment for all. Together, we can make a difference!
Transportation
Reliable Transportation Methods:
- Parent/Guardian Drop-Off: Begins at 8:00 AM
- Parent/Guardian Pick-Up: Between 3:15 PM – 4:30 PM
- Parent/Guardian provides transportation to the zoned school for students to catch the PCI magnet bus.
Bus Transportation:
- PCI provides bus service to and from the zoned school.
- If students elect to use neighborhood buses to reach the zoned school, please know that if the neighborhood buses run late, students may miss the PCI bus departing from the zoned school and/or they may miss the departing bus in the afternoon. We also ask that if PCI students elect to take the neighborhood buses, that they demonstrate excellent behavior that is reflective of a PCI student.
Here at PCI, we have implemented a no cell phone policy in the classrooms and hallways, beginning last year. That will continue this year. If cell phones are confiscated, parents/guardians will have to pick up their device from PCI.

Emergency Mental Health Resources:
The following facilities provide 24-hour assistance and have shared with the district that they will complete emergency assessments at no cost. If your child already receives support from a mental health provider, you may wish to contact that professional first. You may also want to check with your insurance company regarding mental/behavioral health coverage. Please note that the district does not endorse any provider, makes no representations as to the effectiveness of these providers, and makes this information available only as a helpful resource.
