And just like that, we blinked and it was April! I hope everyone had a wonderful Spring Break and an Easter weekend spent with family. Our team here at Parkland looks forward to welcoming all of our Pacers back tomorrow (Monday, April 6th)! For my family, our Spring Break was filled with some spring cleaning and a trip down to the Lower Mainland to visit family. Me and my kiddos ventured to the coast and while it was rainy, we were able to enjoy lots of visits, scootering, and a trip to the Vancouver Aquarium. If you are ever in the area, it is a MUST see.

To start April off on the right foot, please see the information below pertaining to an update to MyPowerHub that was provided over the break. The visual below will provide a step-by-step guide to make sure your app is up-to-date so you can access your students' PowerSchool directly on your device. Please reach out to the PCHS office if you have any questions.

Please see the following message from our Minister of Education and Childcare regarding the upcoming Budget 2026:

"Budget 2026 invests where it counts – in our students and classrooms. Parent voices are an important part of Alberta’s education system. To support this, I am pleased to invite parents to participate in our upcoming telephone town halls focused on education‑related investments in three key regions of the province. These town halls will provide parents with an opportunity to ask questions about government priorities and Budget 2026 investments in education."

Families are invited to join one of these upcoming Town Halls. Click HERE to see the official letter.

Starting a new month is a great time to provide a reminder that a key part of emergency preparedness is ensuring that "the safety of our students, staff, and schools is our absolute priority." Information pertaining to GYPSDs Emergency Preparedness regarding Air Quality and Wildfires can be found HERE, with an updated Wildfire Preparation Checklist for Families HERE.

With this in mind, it is essential that any changes to your students emergency contact information be communicated with the school as soon as you are able. You can confirm your emergency contacts on file by contacting our front office at (780) 723-6035.

I was fortunate to wrap up my Spring Break taking my daughter to her first dance festival of the season to take the stage for her first ever Tap Solo! It was so exciting to see some of our own Pacers also performing, such as Paytin T.!

If you do not already follow our school's Facebook Page (www.facebook.com/pchspacers), please consider doing so as we update it regularly. Send any questions our way at (780) 723-6035 or pop by anytime - we always welcome a visit!

This week, we want to provide a shout out to a few of our own Pacers - Jayla V. and Natalie G. - for their achievement as being a part of the 16U Jr. Ooks as the Western Canadian Champions! As stated on the Female Super League Instagram, "This one went all the way to Overtime in a back and forth clash with the Bow Valley Nats. An unreal game between two excellent teams. The Jr. Ooks played their best hockey when it mattered the most." Fantastic work ladies!

"I studied at both Grant MacEwan and the University of Alberta completing my Bachelor of Education with a major in chemistry and a minor in biology. Before moving to Edson I lived just outside of Stony Plain. I have been teaching at Parkland since 2024 and currently teach math and science from grade 9 to 11. I also support with coaching volleyball and badminton."

We are so fortunate to have you be a part of our team,

Mr. Davies!

Pacers in the Community Pacers in the Community

Over Spring Break, many youth in our community (including a huge number of Pacers) stepped outside their comfort zones to get hands-on experience and a closer look at what healthcare careers can really look like. This event was put on by the Town of Edson and the Community Care Foundation of Edson. As written on their Facebook post, "The level of engagement, curiosity and willingness to try something new was amazing to see." Check out some of the pictures that were shared on Facebook below.

Great work Pacers and thank you to our community partners for putting on this incredible event!
