Assistant Principal's Message
I hope this message finds you well-rested and ready for an excited second half of the school year at Canaan Elementary School.
At this time of the year, students should be coming to school with their outdoor winter gear every day. This should include boots, ski pants, hat, mittens or gloves, and a warm jacket. Please label all of your child's items. We have some extra winter outdoor gear if needed.
Lastly, encourage your child to be as independent as possible at home. Create a routine where they pack their bag each morning and/or clean out their bag each evening. Encourage students to practice zipping their own jackets and tying their own shoes. Students should learn how to open their own snacks and drinks as well. Teachers are always willing to help as needed but with a classroom of students, it's always appreciated when students are able to do as much for themselves as possible.
As always, we are grateful for your continued partnership in your child's education. Feel free to reach with out with any questions and/or concerns at any time.
Warmly,
Erin Madore
Assistant Principal

January's Core Value of the Month
Each month Canaan Elementary students learn about a core value. These core values are essential for building good character and all point back to the BIG 3 - Treating others right, making smart decisions, and maximizing your potential. January's core value is Commitment. Commitment is making a plan and putting it into place.
Students will earn cougar slips if seen showing Commitment and any of our previous studied core values. Each month, we will draw one cougar slip and that student's classroom will win an extra recess! Teachers also pick 2 students each month to be the Core Value Student of the Month. These students will receive a certificate, a medal, and be invited to a pizza party with Mrs. Madore.
