THE PRINCIPAL CHRONICLES THE PRINCIPAL CHRONICLES

JOSH MILLER

The Principal Chronicles continue ...

The first full week of school is here, and we are in full swing now. As I write this, it is Tuesday, and we just had Kindergarteners start yesterday. As always, it is fun to see the littlest students in our building starting school for the first time. They are so tiny with huge backpacks and are full of energy. Having said that, by the end of the day yesterday, they were all wiped out from their first day. It was pretty funny to see them with heavy eyelids at the end of the day. Outside of Kindergarten, our year has gotten off to a really good start. Our new teachers are amazing, and the energy in our building is higher than it has been in a while. Our returning teachers are also knocking it out of the park. Overall, we are fully ready to rock.

On the home front, it is a very emotional week for me. Later today, I will be dropping my daughter off at college. It is a truly surreal experience. I know I typically give her a hard time here on the Chronicles, but I love her so very much, and I cannot confirm or deny that I have shed some tears. This past weekend, we packed and cleaned out her room and that is when it truly hit me that she is leaving. Since she was one she has had to pop back and forth from my house to her mom's house, and has never been able to have all of her stuff in one place before - so she is excited for this move. Of course, all she is concerned about is making friends, and all I am concerned about is her not flunking out or making some poor boyfriend choice. I also will not be connected in to her day to day, which will be another huge shift for her helicopter father. I am pretty confident the Chronicles will be all about being an empty nester and college stories. Good luck reading all of that this year.

That's it for week's episode, stay tuned for next week when the Principal Chronicles continue ...
