Beginning of the Year Recap
New Student Social
During the first week of school, new students had the opportunity to introduce themselves to the Liberty Orchestra community and attend our first ice cream social! At the social, they enjoyed fun games, socializing with peers, and the highlight, ice cream!
Pod Reveal
A unique aspect of Liberty Orchestra is "pods," which are randomized groupings of students from all six of our orchestras. This gives students the opportunity to interact with students outside of their orchestra. On the first week of September, students met their pod leaders and members for this school year, had snacks & treats, and played icebreaker games to get to know each other!
To win this month's prize, complete this Connections game! The first person from each orchestra to email a director a screenshot of the successfully guessed categories wins a prize! Good luck!
Bach to School Bash
Liberty Orchestra began our amazing school year with our annual outdoor social, the Bach to School Bash! Students ate pizza/snacks, played fun games with their pods, socialized with friends, and of course had our grade vs. grade tug of war and snowball fight!

Congratulations!
Junior Harpist Vir Ghandi is Recognized as Outstanding Performer @ State Solo & Ensemble!
To compete at State Solo & Ensemble, students had to perform a Class I Solo memorized and receive a Superior rating at District Solo & Ensemble. They then had to prepare to play the piece memorized in Austin with an accompanist (if applicable) at state and they will receive a rating there.
Out of 10,355 soloists who competed at State Solo & Ensemble this year, Vir was 1 out of 300 soloists and 5 harpists who received the Outstanding Performer award at the state level. Congratulations Vir!
Liberty Orchestra's National Merit Semi-Finalists!
Frisco ISD has had the state's largest number of National Merit Semifinalists for many years, and this year, the District recognizes 146 Semifinalists for 2026 out of over 1.3 million high school juniors in the country and less than 1% being named National Merit Semifinalists.
Congratulations to our senior students who qualified as National Merit Semi-Finalists!

Students of the Month!
The following students have been chosen by Ms. Blackstock and Mr. Lucio as Student of the Month for their orchestra! Let's hear what they have to say!
Concert - Muhammad Hussain
My year in orchestra so far is going pretty well, my favorite part of being in orchestra is probably the concerts or pod socials, and I hope to learn how to play even more difficult rhythms and notes!
Philharmonic - Jayantika Singh
My favorite part of being in orchestra was getting to make new friends with people from other schools, which made class more fun!
Serenata - Daphne Atchley
My year so far in orchestra has been absolutely amazing, and everybody I've met in Liberty orchestra has been so kind. I really love answering the question of the day in class and connecting with classmates, and orchestra at Liberty is so much more than just playing music. I'm hoping that I can challenge myself and play more complex pieces because of my passion instead of competition.
Sinfonia - Neil Madnani
So far, my year in orchestra has been going great! I have really enjoyed the concert music that we have been preparing, and I've met so many amazing people in my new orchestra! One of my favorite parts of being in my current orchestra is the amazing community around it. Through it, I've already met so many new people! I really hope to improve my sight-reading skills and further enhance my tone musically. Furthermore, I also want to better my time management.
Symphonic - Sarah Mills
My favorite parts about being in orchestra are playing awesome music, meeting new people, and chilling with my friends!
Camerata - Ryan Nguyen
Orchestra has started out pretty fun this year, and I’ve been reconnecting with my old friends since this is my Year 1 at Liberty. I favor making memories through the events that happen throughout the year. The concerts, socials, region, UIL, and the school trips gives me a good place to remember. I hope to grow my musicianship as a violinist. I want to bring my skills to the next level, and by learning from the highest level of orchestra, I wish to take the knowledge I learned and put it to use.
