An Important Update from the Office
Lawrence School Family Handbook

Updates from the Lawrence Office for the Week Ahead
Dear Lawrence Families,
We enjoyed to opportunity to connect with so many of our 6-8th grade families last week! As a reminder, if you were unable to attend, feel free to email your student's homeroom teacher to receive updates from our night.
We look forward to welcoming more of our parents/caregivers to Lawrence School this week: Monday, October 5th will be our 3rd-5th Curriculum Night/Back to School "Open Houses," while our K-2nd night will be Thursday, October 8th with both nights beginning at 6:00 PM sharp. As a reminder, all of our Curriculum Nights at Lawrence are adult only (with the exception of infant/toddler under the age of 3). This is to ensure that there is space in classrooms, as well as to keep the focus on both relaying important information around grade level curriculum, expectations and routines as well as building connections between our educators and adult caregivers. We are grateful that our PTO arranged with our 8th grade to support with childcare for our upcoming K-2nd and 3-5th evenings, but please note our sign ups for child care has now closed after reaching our volunteer capacity.
For our K-5th grade parents/adult caregivers, this year's evening will give you the opportunity to meet some of the staff supporting your child and see the classrooms where they spend their time learning each day. We have the evening set up so that adults will have the opportunity to both spend time in your child(ren)'s homeroom classroom and receive grade level information. Additionally, specialists (counselors, administration, EL, math/literacy specialists and special educators, as well as representatives from our music, art and wellness departments), will be on hand to greet you.
Here is a brief overview of our two nights:

Please note, in reviewing the schedules above that we will be starting both evenings PROMPTLY at 6:00 PM to ensure that educators are able to get home at a reasonable time after our evening together. We are grateful for the efforts that all of our educators are putting into providing an informative evening for our families, but also want to remind everyone that these Back to School nights are NOT the time for individual conferencing about student needs. If you have specific concerns/questions related to your child, please reach out to the homeroom teacher or specialist to schedule a time to chat. K-5th grade families should be signing up for our Fall Conference window, so that is the time for discussion about student-specific topics.
In other news, a hearty congratulations to our three parent School Site Council representatives, selected through the recent election sponsored by the PTO: Anna Hartmann, Jason North and Andrea Ricotta! We are grateful to all the parents who ran for a position and urge everyone to stay involved this coming year as we draft our next School Improvement Plan, to begin summer of 2027. Our first public meeting of the Lawrence School Site Council will be this Thursday morning (see calendar below).
Thank you to all of our families for your desire to connect and support the learning at Lawrence School - our success is built on the collaboration between families and educators and we know that we are blessed to have such an engaged adult caregiver community! Stay tuned to next edition of the Linked "In" Newsletter next weekend, where we will be sharing out the middle school students selected to take part in our first Leopard PAC (Principal's Advisory Council) for this school year!
Warmly,
Vanessa Bilello
