Escondido Lions Express
April 6, 2026
From the Principal
Hello Lion Families,
I hope you enjoyed your weekend. This week is a 4 day week with no school on Monday, April 6th, which is a Teacher Work Day/Student Holiday.
The Father Son Fishing Day was rescheduled due to the weather. We will notify parents as soon as we have the new date.
If you ordered popcorn, please pick it up on Tuesday, April 7th. We will be a closed campus the rest of the week due to STAAR testing and makeups.
This week we celebrate National Assistant Principal's Week. We will celebrate our wonderful Assistant Principal, Kim Prado-Garcia, for her hard work and dedication to our campus. She is an essential pillar of our campus making a meaningful impact on both our students and our staff. We appreciate our Assistant Principal!
We will be administering our Reading STAAR test on Wednesday, April 8th. Students in grades 3-5 do not need backpacks. Please keep backpacks at home on STAAR testing days.
As a reminder, No visitors allowed on STAAR administration days.
Our STAAR testing days are on April 8th (Reading Grades 3-5), April 14th (Science -5th Grade), and April 21st (Math- Grades 3-5).
I want to recognize the hard work of our staff and students. They have worked really hard this year to close academic gaps. In addition, we cannot do this without the support of our parents. I am very proud of the efforts are students have made this year. It truly does take a village and I am proud to be part of this journey. Thank you, parents, for all that you do to support students at home.
Please see the school calendar for specific events happening this month.
Have a great week!
Warm regards-
-Esmeralda Garza, Principal

Additionally, restricting food sharing protects students with allergies and dietary restrictions. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us provide a positive and secure mealtime experience for everyone.
