RedHawk Families,

In the last two weeks, Wredling students and staff participated in a series of important safety drills, including evacuation, A.L.I.C.E./lockdown, severe weather/shelter-in-place, and bus evacuation. These practices give us the opportunity to talk through and walk through how we would respond in different types of situations. While we hope never to need these procedures, we are proud of how seriously our students approached them and grateful to our staff for guiding the process with care. As parents, I know hearing that your child participates in these drills can bring a range of emotions—from reassurance to worry. Please know that I carry those same feelings, both as an educator and as a parent, and I take great pride in how our school community works together to keep safety a top priority.

Proud to be a RedHawk,

Francesca Favero, Principal

Middle School Parent-Teacher Conferences Middle School Parent-Teacher Conferences

Please Read This Information Carefully

Sign up for Parent-Teacher conferences starts September 26th at 8:00 a.m. and will close October 6th at midnight. Conferences will be held with individual teachers. All conferences will be held in person or online through zoom/google meets. Each conference will be eight minutes long with a four minute transition period.

🚩Pick-A-Time Parent-Teacher Conference Scheduling Directions:
  1. Login to your HAC (HOME ACCESS CENTER) Account
  2. Click on the link for "Parent-Teacher Conference Scheduler"
  3. Be sure to ONLY choose Q1 (first quarter) teachers!

  • One important reminder: middle school conferences look a little different than what many of you may remember from elementary school. With each teacher working with (on average) 100–125 students, it’s simply not realistic (or necessary!) for every family to have a conference. Unlike elementary school, a conference is not an automatic obligation or expectation for all parents.
  • If you wish to visit the explore teachers, please sign-up to visit your child’s first quarter explore teachers only. The other teachers would not have information to share with you at this time.
  • You can sign-up for a conference with a teacher only one time. Our student services team (counselors, social workers, psychologists, speech and language pathologists, etc.) will be available for conferences, as well.
  • In some cases, a teacher may contact you in advance to set-up a conference time. That means we want to guarantee you a time to meet with your child’s teachers.
  • When you sign-up, try to sign-up for all conferences in a row. In other words, do not schedule gap times in the middle or you will be waiting around for a long time.
  • We would like you to have your RedHawk student with you during conferences. It is important that they hear what you hear. They are of the age when they are mature and responsible enough to be part of the conversation.

We need your help!

Morning Drop Off/Bus Arrival Reminder

We recognize that morning drop off is a challenge on a daily basis. With the recent surge in road construction in our area, things have really become more problematic this week. For those of you dropping of your student(s) in the morning, please take the time tolook through this Arrival/Dismissal Procedures slideshow! It is imperitive that you adhere to this process as it's truly the most efficient way to expedite the drop off process. If you follow these directions, we can get a whole bunch of kids in safely and quickly.

  • Front lot: The key is to pull up to the furthest sign/cone, and then your child gets out on the passenger side nearest to the building.

  • Back lot: The key is to drop off behind the cafeteria, loop around the blacktop area and exit, taking a right turn only onto Dunham.

Please encourage those with a bus route to ride it as this will help reduce car traffic greatly!

Come Share Your Career Journey!

Our 6th-grade Exploring College & Careers class is seeking community members to visit and share about their career journey: what a “day in the life” looks like, what education or training is required, etc. If you are interested in volunteering as a guest speaker at either Thompson Middle School or Wredling Middle School, please complete this Google Form. We would love for our students to hear your story!

Help Us Collect ONE MILLION Pop Tabs!

We’re on a mission to collect one million pop tabs for Ronald McDonald House Charities, and we can’t do it without YOU (and your grandparents, cousins, neighbors, and carpool crew)!

Those tiny aluminum tabs from soda cans, soup lids, or sparkling water may seem small—but when we collect them together, they add up to real support for families with seriously ill children.

Here’s how to pitch in:

  • Save your pop tabs at home—and ask your grandparents, cousins, friends, and neighbors to do the same!

  • Bring them to school all year long.

  • Every tab brings us closer to our 1,000,000-tab goal!

Let's pull together and make a difference!
