Marty Party
On Friday, January 31st, some students participated in the Kinsner Elementary Marty Party. This event was not only a resounding success but also a delightful experience for our students who saved up 40 PRIDE tickets to purchase the experience, granting them the wonderful opportunity to celebrate with Marty the mascot.
The enthusiasm was palpable as the kids joyfully participated in a spirited conga line around the school, culminating in an energetic dance party in the atrium. It was a sight to behold!
A special acknowledgment goes to Sam Hovanic, Marty the Mustang and Monica Cooney for their dedication and exceptional effort in bringing this event to life. Your hard work truly made a difference. Congratulations to all the students who earned 40 tickets and joined in this unforgettable celebration!
National School Counselor's Spirit Week
Dear Kinsner Families,
I would like to take a moment to recognize our amazing school counselor, Meghan Medlock. Her dedication and hard work make a significant impact on our students every day. Counselors like Meghan provide vital support through individual counseling, classroom guidance lessons, and helping students navigate their social and emotional challenges. We are truly grateful for her commitment to our school community!
Next week, we will celebrate National School Counseling Spirit Week from February 3-7, 2025. Here’s how we will show our appreciation:
- Monday: Kindness rocks! Wear your favorite band or celebrity shirt.
- Tuesday: Put yourself in someone else’s shoes! Students, dress like your teacher. Staff, dress like your students.
- Wednesday: Cheer for one another day! Wear your favorite sports team gear today.
- Thursday: Comfy for kindness day! Come to school in a hoodie or sweatshirt today.
- Friday: Mustangs are kind to each other! Wear your Strongsville spirit gear or green today.
Thank you for your support in celebrating all Strongsville counselors and what they do for kids.
Chinese New Year
Chinese New Year: A Festive Celebration of Renewal
Chinese New Year, also known as the Lunar New Year or Spring Festival, is the most important traditional holiday in Chinese culture. This vibrant celebration typically falls between late January and mid-February, marking the beginning of a new year on the lunar calendar.
The festival lasts for 15 days and is filled with rich traditions and customs. Families gather for reunion dinners, homes are decorated with red lanterns and paper cuttings, and children receive red envelopes containing money for good luck. People thoroughly clean their houses to sweep away bad luck and make way for good fortune in the coming year.
Each year is associated with one of twelve zodiac animals, which rotate in a 12-year cycle. Fireworks and lion dances are common sights during the festivities, believed to ward off evil spirits and bring prosperity. Traditional foods like dumplings and sticky rice cakes are enjoyed, each with symbolic meanings of good luck and fortune.
Chinese New Year is not only celebrated in China but also in many other Asian countries and by Chinese communities worldwide, making it a truly global festival of renewal and hope.

Click Here to hear Ivan's Story
"Ivan was born with a heart defect and had to have emergency heart surgery the day he was born. He is a 3rd generation heart defect patient, but the first to survive. His aunt died at 4 months old and his great uncle died at age 3. Our family is so thankful for science and the medical advances that made his life-saving surgery possible.
Ivan's condition is called total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return and doctors said it was the luckiest heart defect he could have, as it was one of the “easiest” to fix. We didn’t feel “lucky” at the time, but we certainly do now as we look at our strong, happy, healthy and active 9-year-old boy.
Ivan sees his cardiologist just once a year to make sure his repair is growing well with him. He plays basketball and volleyball to stay active and loves to play with his brother, his twin sister and his friends. He knows how important it is to stay heart-healthy and is proud to help the American Heart Association spread that message!"
PBIS
Dear Kinsner Families,
Our school is committed to fostering a positive and supportive learning environment for all students. To better understand our school climate and identify areas for improvement, we plan to conduct a School Climate Survey with students in grades three (3), four (4), and five (5).
The survey will gather anonymous feedback on topics such as safety, behavior expectations, engagement, and overall school culture. The data collected from the survey will be used to identify student perceptions of school climate issues within our school. Our school’s PBIS team will review the responses for enhancement and sustainment of positive behavior supports.
If you do not want your child to participate in this survey, please complete and return the form below to the school by Friday, January 31st. If we do not receive this form, we will assume you consent to your child's participation.
If you have any questions, please contact our assistant principal, Mrs. Monica Cooney, at (440) 572-7120 ext. 5974 and/or mcooney@scsmustangs.org.
Thank you for your attention and support,
Mrs. Cooney, Assistant Principal
Family Survey
We would like to hear about how you feel about your student's school(s). We will use your answers to find ways we can improve our school(s). You do not have to answer all of the questions. The survey is anonymous - nobody will know that your answers came from you. Click HERE to take the survey!
