RILEY RECAP - VOLUME 4 ISSUE 8
October 16, 2024 "Fall Break Edition"
From the Desk of Principal Henderson
Dear Riley Parents, Guardians, and Scholars,
We are at the end of the 1st nine weeks of the 2024-25 school year. I hope our scholars found the success they were looking for. It is imperative that each scholar continues to work hard. If success was not found, we will continue to provide our families with the support they need for the scholars success. We will begin looking at the data from the 1st nine weeks to asses Tier I, II, and III support. Please find time to relax during fall break as we will hit the ground running at the start of the 2nd nine weeks.
WE WILL CONTINUE RAISE THE BAR AT RILEY!
I am looking forward to working with you and your student as we work toward an academically successful school year. I can promise you the best of myself for your students each and every day. Please do not hesitate to contact me at shenderson2@sbcsc.k12.in.us if you have any questions or concerns during the year.
Our Goals:
1) Get students reading on grade level
2) A 95% attendance rate
3) A 90% graduation rate
We greatly appreciate the value that each and every one of our scholars and families brings to Riley. WE ARE THE PRIDE OF THE SOUTHSIDE! WE ARE #RILEYSTRONG!
Sincerely,
Shawn Henderson

Wildcats Going Above and Beyond!
Thank you, Ayden Monroe, Jeffery Townsend, Mur'i Jackson, and Bradford Washington. These young men were returning to Riley for practice when they noticed a 3rd grader from a sister school crying because she was lost. They provided safety and security to the 3rd grader, brought the student back to Riley, and reconnected the student with their mother.
Catrell Conley summer internship research at Notre Dame being published!
A huge congratulations to Catrell Conley on his summer internship research at Notre Dame being published! Catrell, alongside fellow interns and under the guidance of Dr. Paul Brenner, contributed to groundbreaking research on the effectiveness of AI bot policies on social media platforms. This important work sheds light on how well platforms are combating harmful AI bots that can spread misinformation and manipulate discussions. We're proud of Catrell’s hard work and excited to see where his future in computer science takes him!
