It was a fantastic week at Springton Lake! Students were recognized at our Student of the Month Celebration for their hard work, leadership, and positive attitude. The week also featured our lively school dance, where students filled the gym with music, laughter, and fun.
We wrapped up with the annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest, showcasing creativity and school spirit, from spooky designs to clever, one-of-a-kind creations.
As a reminder, Marking Period 1 ends in nine school days on November 7, so let’s finish strong! Photos from the Student of the Month celebration and Pumpkin Decorating Contest will be featured in next week’s edition.
Sincerely,
Ryan Buterbaugh
6th Grade Student & Family Thanksgiving Luncheon
We are excited to invite our families to join us for the 6th Grade Student & Family Thanksgiving Luncheon on Friday, November 21st, at 12:00 PM, in celebration of American Education Week.
Our dedicated cafeteria team will be preparing a traditional Thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings. Families planning to attend are asked to RSVP using [THIS FORM] by November 19.
Due to limited space, we kindly ask that attendance be limited to parents only. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate younger siblings. In addition, the Thanksgiving meal will be the only lunch option available for 6th grade students on that day.
This luncheon is one of our most cherished and well-attended events of the year, and we look forward to celebrating this special occasion with our 6th grade families!
RTMSD Survey
Dear Parent/Guardian:
We are conducting surveys of all students in third through twelfth grade in order to gain a better understanding as to the students thoughts and feelings about their school. There are two surveys that seek to find information focusing on Academic Challenge and School Culture. For each student there is one survey that is specific to their level (Elementary/Middle/High) and a second survey that is applicable to all students. While we will collect basic demographic information from students as part of the survey, we will not be able to link survey results to individual students. To reiterate, survey respondents will remain completely anonymous. Students will take the surveys in school on Monday November 3rd and they should take only a few minutes. This information is for our internal use as we develop our district's strategic plan and work on continuous improvement in both academics and school culture.
We are committed to maintaining and enhancing an affirming and supportive learning environment for all members of the Rose Tree Media School District. The information collected from the students will be helpful in this endeavor. However, if you would prefer your child not to participate in this survey please let us know.
Included is a link to a copy of the survey for you to preview
Thank you for all of your time and support.
From the Nurse’s Office: Staying Healthy This Fall
As we continue into the fall months, it's crucial to maintain a healthy environment in our school to protect students during the respiratory virus season. If your child is ill, please consult the following RTMSD guidelines to determine if they should attend school:
Keeping your sick child at home will help them recover sooner and prevent the spread of germs.
Reminding your student to cover their cough and the importance of good handwashing goes a long way in preventing the spread of bacteria and viruses. Proper nutrition and getting plenty of rest helps to maintain their immune system. Please remind your student not to share water bottles, cups/glasses and eating utensils.
A reminder about our district medication policy. Students are not permitted to have any medication with them at school. Only inhalers and EpiPens with self-carry doctor's orders are permitted. Tylenol, Ibuprofen, and Tums are available at the health office with parent permission. If your student needs any other medication at school, please see the Administrations of Medication policy for instructions.
Thank you for helping us keep our school community healthy.

Scholastic Book Fair
The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to The Lake during American Education week, November 17-21. Students will visit the fair in their language arts classes, and payments can be made via cash, checks to Rose Tree Media, credit card, Apple/Google Pay, or eWallet. Learn more about the fair on our Scholastic Book Fair page. Set up an eWallet for your child prior to the fair so they have money to spend on a book when they visit the fair. (Leftover money can be spent at the online fair through November 27th.) We look forward to this popular event and the opportunity to offer great titles to our students at Scholastic's low prices.
Cell Phones and Electronic Devices
To keep classrooms focused and learning uninterrupted, all wireless devices, including cell phones, smart watches, earbuds, and similar devices, must be OFF and AWAY during the school day unless a teacher gives a specific academic reason to use them. Students will be reminded each morning to power down their devices.
Please let your child know that you will not be texting or calling during school hours. If a student needs to reach a parent, a staff member can provide permission. In an emergency, the main office is the best way to get in touch. More details are available in the Springton Lake Student Handbook.
Thank you for helping us create a safe, distraction-free learning environment!
