M-STEP Testing
M-STEP is continuing this week. This week, 4th graders will continue their testing and 3rd graders will start their testing. Please see the schedule below for exact dates. Please note that the M-STEP is required by the state of Michigan.
We ask that your child is at school on time on each of the scheduled testing days and comes to school well-rested.
Also, electronic devices (smartphones, smart watches, cell phones, book readers, electronic tablets, cameras, non-approved calculators, music players, voice recorders, etc.) are not allowed to be with students during the testing sessions.

Testing is designed to be manageable for students by breaking it up into small sessions over several days. The testing schedule is designed to be safe, fulfill state testing requirements, and provide meaningful data while being minimally disruptive to learning as possible.
I have again included the District Electronic Device Use Assessment Policy. Please click on the link below and read this information so that your children understand these expectations when taking the M-STEP Tests.
Professional Learning Morning
Our professional learning morning for staff will take place again this Wednesday, April 29. This means that it is a late start for students. The first bell will ring at 9:20 a.m. with classes starting at 9:25 a.m.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month!
During the month of May, we encourage all of our students, staff and families to show support for mental health by wearing the color green on Friday, May 1, and every Monday throughout the month. Green is the official color for mental health awareness as green represents renewal, hope, and vitality. To be seen in green, whether a complete outfit or just a touch of green, sends a message of advocacy and support for the importance of mental health.

A Note to 5th Grade Families
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we approach the end of this school year, we are putting together special memory books for our wonderful fifth graders to celebrate their growth, accomplishments, and cherished moments from elementary school. They will work on memory pages in school, and then some extra surprises will be added in before they receive them at the end of the year.
To make these memory books even more meaningful, we would love for each student to receive a heartfelt letter from you. This letter can be a message of encouragement, pride, or reflection—something your child can read and treasure for years to come. This is a SECRET, so please don't tell your child about your letter!
**Here are a few ideas to include in your letter:**
* A special memory you have of them during their elementary years
* Words of encouragement as they prepare for middle school
* Qualities you admire in them and why you’re proud
Please send your letter in by Thursday May 21st, either in a sealed envelope or by email. If sending in a hand-written letter, be sure the outside envelope has your child's name, and "Attn. Mrs. Foss" OR "Attn. Mrs. Wienclaw." If sending by email, please make sure the subject line includes your child’s name and “Memory Book Letter.” If you'd like to have other family members/friends/coaches send in letters, please pass along this information. The 5/21 due date is a hard deadline in order to give us enough time to put the memory books together. They take a lot of time and effort!
Thank you for helping us make this a meaningful keepsake for your child!
